The course is out for review
and As for the let the forum design the course... I for one choose to chair so I can design the course and doubt I would offer to chair an event that let the forum select the course.
But having said that ... before I start my design of any course I like to try to review previous courses to see what worked and what did not. It would be easier to do that if there was a forum topic that was just course maps and reviews that way we can have a log of what worked in the past and what people did not like and then chairs can have a place to go to pull or look at more specific elements that work on what we have to work with in the way of each site.

Okey Dokey - I'll stop and pick up what we need on my way up. If you can think of anything other than water, soda and ice let me know. My cell is 813-841-5916 if you need to call Saturday morning.I seem to recall we have 4 cases of water, so we'll need about 4 more. We do NOT have a lot of soda left, though, so, several 12-packs of a variety, please. Probably 6 bags of ice.

and a +1 to you, too. Plenty of people seem to want to have input on course design, before, during and after events, but don't seem to want to chair and be able to make the course they want!Jamie wrote:Local talent needs to simply step up and chair or co-chair an event, which entitles you to take your best shot and ask for as little or as much help as you want.
Jeremy, thanks for starting the new thread!

Sorry to hear man, hopefully everything will work out.WAFlowers wrote:I'm about to go sign up for the event, so I can say that one of the Flowers will be towing the trailer.
It might end up being just me and then I'll have to find a car to co-drive. That part isn't clear yet.
There is also a possibility that this will be my last autocross with FAST unless the immigration attorneys can pull a rabbit out of their hat in the next month.
I likely won't be at many autocrosses, occasionally when I feel like beating on the Grand Marquis, or fixing my Integra enough to autocross with it.. but eh.. getting burned out again.. it's a normal cycle for me and autocrossing

Brooksville estimated speeds
I have a slightly painful question..
What are the high end of the expected speeds on the Brooksville course?
I just had someone gracious enough to adjust the passenger side of my car with theirs. No one was hurt, and the damage is mostly superficial, but I think both of my front wheels are bent a little.
One into the other car, and one into the curb. The insurance companies both want to pay for the repairs, but I don't know how quick they'll be. I'm hopeful that I can get the new wheels on before race day, even if they don't get the paint done.
Just in case they don't, I want to make sure I won't be overdoing what the car can handle right now. I did 60 with not too much shaking. I will have to do a serious inspection of the suspension and steering this weekend, and be fully confident I can handle a course. My normal 45mph cruise to work seems to be ok, but that's a bit easier than a course.

Either our insurance or the airport (or both) says 60 mph max.JWSmythe wrote: What are the high end of the expected speeds on the Brooksville course?
From a safety standpoint, if there's any doubt, better to give this one a pass. Straightline speeds may be the least of your worries -- cornering loads might cause something to fail, or you may find your alignment is more compromised than you realized. We really don't want to find that out on course. We'll be happy to give you an event credit.I did 60 with not too much shaking. Since we're getting close to the limit, we need to bring this up: we're a little over the usual estimate for guests. We normally figure 60 drivers and 15 guests. A few people have asked to bring in two guests (included in this count), and I've let them know via e-mail that if things get tight, we'll be looking for volunteers to take in a FAST event at a later time in order to make enough space available for 60 drivers.Jamie wrote:Just to keep a count going: 52 entries, 17 guests.
69 total against the 75-person limit.
We're close....

Just a friendly reminder to anyone thats new and is thinking about registering for this event. Even though the event is not until the 21st, online registration closes on the 12th(which is this thursday) at 10:00PM. So if you're thinking about signing up make sure you don't wait to long. Also keep in mind, that even guests you plan to bring must be added by this thursday as well. It will really suck if you forget to add guests and you show up on the 21st and you're told they can't enter. Just a friendly reminder.
So remember registration closes this thursday the 12th at 10:00PM.

Re: Brooksville estimated speeds
It looks like the insurance companies are both going to help me out, so I should be in good shape by then. I've spent more time on the phone with them than anyone else since last night.Jamie wrote:Either our insurance or the airport (or both) says 60 mph max.JWSmythe wrote: What are the high end of the expected speeds on the Brooksville course?

But ya, if I'm not 100% sure it's good, I won't run. I'd hate for something to break loose, both for my car hitting something, and for the something I may hit.

54 drivers, 19 guests.
73 people against the 75-person limit.
For the three of you who asked to bring two guests: I'm asking you to prepare to cut back to one in order to leave room for the remaining drivers. And if there's anyone else whose guest isn't excited about coming, let me know. If we fall short of 60 entrants, I'll certainly include as many additional guests as possible on the access roster.

Typically you run the in the same group, with different numbers. Let the grid worker know that you have a 2 driver car and they will work your car in twice as often as everyone else.Jen wrote:I will be sharing my car with another driver. We both signed up as divers. So, how do we handle this on track day - numbering, run group, etc??
If you want to do it some other way, let Jamie know in advance because he usually has the run groups sorted out before the day of the event.

Lunch guy (Steve Woodbury) computer bit the big one, so I can relay any messages to him. I PM'ed Scott about lunch, I asked him if he ordered it or if Steve needs to, but haven't heard back yet. Let me know if it needs to be ordered and I'll let Steve know, he'll need to know the ratio of pizzas per person.Jamie wrote:
