test drives, thick drawing lines, radius tools - all good stuff!
We have a small dry erase board we could easily put out that says - "Walk/Don't Walk" or something. As people gather waiting for it to open, there's even more help for setup! We could put the chalk out by it, too, and when the course opens for walking, folks can grab chalk and go.
There's no real reason course setup should take so long except lack of help and coordination. Especially at B'ville. I'd suggest that any event chair's first step as soon as the trailer is parked is get the trailer unpacked and get to the cones, then use the cones. Draft the first few people who've shown up to help, in addition to whoever signed up for "setup." At reg., I can "send" them to you as they come through. Have course maps, and assign sections to the workers - organize them, or the course will get set up willy-nilly with everyone working on and arguing about one section while none of the rest gets done...my .02
