thanks for the course map !
looks like some nice flow!
please this time run the cars in groups so the mod and r comp tire classes run last please. its going to be cold in the morning
remember we ran first last mo on cold tires in the morning.
it should warm up in the afternoon, better conditions, grip.
my 2 cents.

Looks fun, fast, and not too narrow...
Of course that will depend of where exactly the cones will be!
But I can't wait to try it!
Hi Jack, it sounds like you are trying to get some advantage there...

Cold tires won't matter that much. There will only be a little turning and not much braking (just the turn around) :)

LOL, don't try that at an SCCA event. You won't like the results.

I second the race tire classes running in the afternoon, for safety reasons, of course. :)

Somehow, I think you'll be okay!
You could pretty much swap those last two numbers for me, 220 lb driver, 160 hp car.

Jack, I hope you know I was only teasing...
For me, morning, afternoon, or night, my tires will never have enough grip to compensate for my overdriving... :D

I have Award Stickers to pass out Saturday, remember those :? ? They're for the passed 3 events; the Battle X, Dec 6 Brooksville Event, and Jan 17 SPC Event. I can either pass them out after the drivers meeting if we have time, or I can just have people come to me/ hunt them down afterwards.

I'd suggest taking the two minutes at the driver's meeting - it'll be easier for you to not have folks bugging you all day, and everyone will be there for the recognition and smattering of applause afterwards.

'sup to you, though.

No need to drag me around on the hand truck... I'd bring my skateboard but with the condition of most of the concrete expansion joints I'd get about 10 feet then have to bail.

I'll chip in and say I want to run first! Cold weather + turbo = WHEEEEEEEE!

Actually, I don't...I wasn't there. (That's the third time this week someone's said, "...you remember from the January event...." Really, I wasn't there!)
it should warm up in the afternoon, better conditions, grip.
my 2 cents.
I do try and take pavement temperature into account when I draft up the groups...also anticipated weather, the number and distribution of novices, which people want to leave early, the Earth's axial tilt, and what your horoscope says for that day. When I'm short of change, I take the 2 cents, too.

Unfortunately, it's impossible to please everyone...I'm not even going to bother publishing the groups in advance, because who shows up on the actual day of the event could change them. I can say none of the classes are split, so the conditions are the same for all competitors within a class.

It never takes just two minutes at the drivers meeting. Let's do this: print a list; we'll tape it to the trailer next to the worker list. We can have an awards handout 15 minutes before the drivers meeting -- that'll also put people on notice the drivers meeting is coming up, so no excuses for stragglers.

I'm out for speed...I want to start the event close to on time.

Every driver goes through registration and every car goes through tech... two good opportunities to hand out awards without taking up much time.

I was thinking this myself, since I'll be working Reg I could pass them out as people show up. Though, like Steve said, it's kinda nice to get the recognition of a award in front of a "crowd".

Another good idea.

We can anounce the drivers meeting 15 minutes earlier, and as soon as a small crowd starts to form at the trailer, before the meeting starts, I'll pass out the awards. Like Jamie said, this might bring attention to the trailer and draw more people to the meeting before it starts. Can't hurt to try.

Maybe it's just me, but, "oh, and here's your sticker" as you go through registration, or having to hunt down Brian begging "may I have my award sticker, please" is a bullcrap way to get an award.

If it's too much trouble to "present" them then we ought not bother with it at all.

That said, calling the drivers' meeting early to allow time for the awards to be handed out is a good idea, and might actually help the overall flow of the event.

Idunno if Kenny is ready for this, but back in the day (when we did everything on paper), we'd determine the class winners while the course was being picked up and equipment packed away... then presented awards at the end of the day. It was always a good way to get folks to stick around and help clean up.

We always announced the winners best time while handing out their awards (and everyone would ooooh and aaaaah), something that we don't do now... mostly because it wouldn't seem so relevant a month after the fact.

Something to consider.
