Hit me up at a Classic event sometime, Randy. I'll take some runs in your car. You'll almost surely be way faster. The S2000 is just so different that I've never really felt like I could get the most out of it. But, I do surprise myself sometimes.

The "Push Harder, Suck Less" philosophy explained:
Push Harder - Drive as close to the limit of your tires as possible.
Suck Less - Drive something resembling a proper racing line.

I had a blast yesterday. The Endurocross format is my favorite by far, and yesterday's course was a fun one. It was just technical enough that little mistakes could cost you. My fastest run was my first fun run. On the second fun run I gave back two seconds, probably going too wide in the sweepers. I added speed, but added distance too. I haven't had time to look at my videos yet, but may learn something from them.

Wait...which one of those cars yesterday was yours? Not sure shoe leather counts as a "car". :)

Maybe a little? I lost -1/2* camber each side when Mazda replaced lower arms under 2017 recall. Apparently I can get it back by shaking down the suspension and using two jacks to load and unload the struts then retorque bushings. I eventually need to replace my OEM crumbling front bump stops so that would be the time to correct that and redo the alignment. Hard to justify doing all that now when I'm not running it in any points events nor getting odd tire wear. I also took some of the camber out of the rear end so the car will rotate better. Trying to wear out these RS4's is hard to do. May just put the DW's back on for awhile and make my speedo correct.

That said, most people take awhile to get used to the rX8 electric steering program as it comes on abruptly midturn inducing what "feels" like understeer when one turns the wheel too far scrubbing the front tires. The car is much more predictable and easily drivable at speed if I simply pull out the 60A steering fuse. But it's kind of a PIA to do the Hokey Pokey to recenter the steering again and leaves marks on the driveway lock to lock unless I jack the car up (guess I could do it at the airport in the grass). And I'm used to it by now, there's no money in this sport (other than beating Phillip...fat chance) and I don't want to get popeye arms like Les. Les is one of those guys who wrings all the time out of the rx8 as it sits every time no matter how it's setup.

Maybe I need fewer cars? :dunno: I put in a couple reasonable bids on that one owner 240Z bsp but it went for $23500...yikes. More than a new turbo Mustang.

Ron never wants to do that even in a Crown Vic.

My problem with stock s2k's has been in several cars of different years autocrossing them I found tho' very fast timewise they were tail happy under acceleration making me drive like egg on the gas pedal at speed- making me think of them as a rather iffy race car. Maybe it just takes getting used to? Kind of like a single turbo hit that VTEC always at the wrong moment having to gather it up and keep it in the sweet spot rpm?

The earlier models from factory drive more like an MR layout and most people arent crazy enough to spend big bucks on proper coilovers or a real big front way bar (or are talented enough)

Theres no Sweet Spot, its more like Caution Spot

Fantastic pictures Philip :D Thanks for posting them.

I Just realized I didn't comment on the event yet. I have to say I really love the Endurocross :lust:
It is so much fun to string a few laps together and get into a rhythm. As Loren mentioned before, it's as close as you get to a track day without actually going to a racetrack. I got over my recent spate of overdriving the hell out of the course and was delighted that two or three people individually complimented my clean line and proximity to the cones this time (::)
Maybe taking a step back to my street tires for this event instead of the RE71s made me pay more attention to the available grip and forced me to focus on not overriding.
Now I just need to apply the same concept with the race tires at the next event....

I haven't had a chance to get video posted yet, it's a crazy week. I have video of my run and Philip's run to sort through as soon as I have a chance, probably at the weekend.

Thanks again to everyone for making the event so much fun and keeping it running smoothly.
Dan.

Whoo-hoo I made the cover!
I'd like to thank my mom, my fans, all the little people, oh, and of course my sponsor - Shade Tree Suspension Racing. This is certainly a pedestal moment in my career, and... [ ] ... I don't think it can get any better! You love me. You really love me! Thank you and good night.

enjoyable time and fine lunch - only not so good at 30mins before my run. perhaps after a year or so, i can try the Incredible Hulk coaster at Universal. last time 15 yearss ago I was sick for 1.5hrs .

Still at the bottom of the pile, however, using my own criteria I continue to improve slowly, very slowly.
Manage to handcuff the ecoboost by forgetting to change the performance settings to track mode. I was wondering why the start was slow, rpms low and shifting felt like i was sleeping. must have cost at least five seconds. will not happen again!!!

My slow start was due to leaving the handbrake half-way up. :bangwall:
