The problem I see with lifting a rear tire on an AWD car is shock-loading the drivetrain when it comes back down. Seems like a recipe for a broken axle or rear CV joint or diff. From a handling perspective, it's not a big deal at all.
I've read a lot of the national guys in wrx's ended up with diff problems from wheel lift. Consensus is that subaru got the bars right the first time and to leave them alone.
But if you did go coilovers down the road, any suspension work you have done will go out the window and you pretty much are starting all over.
I had that thought too. The Ohlin road and track coilovers come with camber plates. I have been kind of leaning that direction and doing those together. Now its just about spending that dough at the same time. Not a problem really, just more than I wanted to spend at once. Probably worth it though.

If you ask Philip, "Ohlins" is the cheat code for "fast".

They are like konis shocks but with WAY better compression control.

Oh, so they're like Bilsteins, but they're adjustable.

Dang it Jason! I like you man, hate to have to rough you up in M2 , sigh, oh well. Lol
Seriously though, Loren said it well early on
"Work on its deficiencies one step at a time. Learn what each modification you're doing does for you... and doesn't do for you."
It will be fun!

Dang, a new M2 entry right when I'll probably be dropping out of M2 and into S4 or M4 for next season.

Is Tim still around? He had an older WRX, but damn that thing was sorted out.

He needs to get on the interwebs to drop knowledge on Jason. WTF wait a minute I'm in M2... Tim needs to enjoy his time in Germany and not waste it on the interwebs... [emoji23]

Tim is a beast to watch. Not many super super fast awd cars at fast events but when he was there, what a show. His car is setup very very well. I love how it rotates/4 wheel slides his car.

Slight change of plans.
I got the opportunity to travel to Nepal to hike the Annapurna circuit next October, which has been a dream of mine for 20 or so years. That will consume my coilover funds. So back to just camber plates for now. I''m thinking that will make enough improvements in the car to be at least be semi-competitive. Probably won't get those until fall though. Also picked up some hawk pads. Should satisfy the "need for speed" for at least a little bit.
Not sure when the coilovers will happen now but hey, NEPAL!

So a guy who only shows up in the morning session to avoid rain in an AWD car is going where? On foot? With 50lbs on his back? I saw this episode on Parts Unknown just before he hung himself in France I think? I definitely lost interest when I saw the required immunization shots required for Nepal. Whoa. The basic training for M2 has really gotten tough. Drew where do you find all this stuff. You and AWD Dan must own Utube.

So how was the tune at the autocrossers?

Biggest difference was the throttle response. Its going to take time to get re-calibrated. There were a couple of times that I was going quicker than I thought I should be but my upgraded pads kinda saved me a bit I believe. Overall, I don't think it will make much of a difference in anything other than daily drive-ability and the noticeable increase in power on the street.
The brakes though, that's another story. Been sitting on them for months and was just too lazy to swap em. Should not have waited. 200% better than stock in bite and feel. Camber plates will be next in another month or so. I also think I am going to experiment with a larger front sway. National guys on NASIOC say they make this chassis a beast in slaloms but do add a bit of understear. Since 90 percent of our courses are slalom intensive I think it may be worth a go. Plus I think it will help with camber loss in turns. Ill run the plates for a while and look for a used bar to snag cheap in the meantime. If I cant find a used one for cheap Ill just save the money for some Ohlins...
My biggest takeaway from this event was falling back into overdriving and not looking ahead enough. Need more seat time.

Well ohlins come with camber plates already right? Kill two birds with one stone.
