Now what are we gonna do with folks who show up thinking they are going to get to run and find out it's full?
Let's hope the # of walk-on's is = to or < the number of pre reg's that dont show.
Especially as a first event, it'd suck turning people away right off the bat.

I think pre-reg should be cut off at least 10 drivers below the limit. Since that wasn't done... pre-reg should definitely be cut off now... and a few on-site regs should be allowed.
A 70-driver event is not impossible, but it WILL require that everyone (organizationally) be on their toes to ensure that we can stick to our standard of 6 or more runs. That means early course setup, timing equipment ready, driver's meeting EARLY, and an early start. Run the event efficiently, keep the cars flowing, keep the group changes quick, make lunch available WITHOUT halting the event for it.
It can be done.
70 drivers
6 runs
30 second run interval
4 groups w/ 20 minutes between each
That adds up to only 4.5 hours of run time. So, if we get the first car out at 10:00am, we can be done as early as 2:30... and if stuff happens (stuff always happens), we've got a good 1.5-2 hours of time buffer.
Steve, did you call SPC to see if there's an event on Sunday. (do we have to reset the course?)

If people can't read "Walk-on registration is permitted, but site size limits this event to 60 drivers -- preregister to secure your spot on the grid! If we reach the event cap, we will open any pre-registered, unpaid positions to walk-on registrants at 9:30...don't be late!", then they're taking their chances. Since we're already trying to figure out how to raise funds for timing software and other capital improvements, I'd vote against leaving $300 to the chance that people unwilling to pre-register will show up to claim the spots. Besides, they'll have to develop the habit for Brooksville events -- no options there.

People can't read.
As an event organizer, that's a fact you're going to have to accept.

Of course not, but consider it done. They've been great with some recent emails, so I
should know by tomorrow.
by the way, I'm all for early - Kenny, what time do you want the key there?

Since I actually know the code to get into the trailer, I'd say if we got started at 7:00 it would give enough time to set up?

Hey! If my son and I can't drive y'all are on your own for transporting the trailer!
Well ... I guess I'd be a nice guy and tow the trailer anyway.

I was thinking of rolling out of bed around 7, but I can be bribed!
I'll aim to be there at 7am and get it there as early as possible. Y'all don't need the trailer for early setup at SPC as badly as at Brooksville; there are cones all over at SPC -- just move them where you want!

Bill - pm sent
I'll be there with the gate key by 7 at the latest...
and the best news of all is we do NOT have to put the cones back - the motorcycles will be there Sunday!!! 8) 8)

I have a 200' cable wired up and tested, and will have another 200' wired and tested if I can find a male XLR jack tonight.
Also, would somebody be able to pick up some ice on their way down tomorrow?
