If someone could give me an assessment on the water/soda situation after 3/11's event, it would be appreciated. I would like to know roughly what to buy and how much of it before 3/18.

There appeared to be 3.5 unpacked cases of water and a cooler that probably held another 1.5 cases (of 24).

There is very little soda, and what there is no one seems to want to drink. Some no-name brand and everyone I've heard complain because it wasn't a known brand (i.e. Coke or Pepsi).

I must say, I tried the diet cola and it was so bad I'm not sure that I'd rather have gone thirsty!

The diet cola didn't even taste like diet cola, which made it not so bad since I hate diet cola....

or maybe the 12 bottles of water consumed previously made it not matter..

+1, the Soda stunk!

I've gotten the Sam's Club brand soda from Wal-Mart in the past and it disappeared quick. We don't need "Pepsi" brand just not that particular brand.

Sam's Club from Wal-Mart, you can't go wrong. Agreed?

I've just been picking up whatever generic is at the Sweetbay/Hannafords 3 blocks from me. I'm there already getting groceries.

I've no idea if that's the sucky soda you're talking about, but I'll assume it is.

I'll find a Wal-Mart and go there I guess.

Personally, I'd rather we just picked up name brand stuff. IMO, little details like that add up. But if the budget isn't there for details like that, so be it.

 I don't shop enough to know...

How much of a cost difference are we talking about? I'd rather see good ol' name-brand stuff, too. Coke, Pepsi, Dr. P, some 7-Up... a little diet mixed in for those who want it. What's that luxury going to cost us?

Of course... water is better for us, anyway.

Please feel free to splurge on name brand sodas.

Do appreciate the effort and support.

I'll be bringing the generator, it will have some gas in it, but won't be full so someone might want to bring a can of FRESH gas, I should be there no later than 8:30 but I'll try to get there earlier. :)

Question about Numbers.

myautoevents.com has assigned me number 13 for Mar 18 (because it was one of my original choices when I registered for the previous event).

But 13 is Dan Rasp's personal number. Dan will not be attending but I probably shouldn't steal his number. Can I get another number -or should I just leave it as is? It's no problem for me to print another number beforehand.

Great. I have fresh gas for the genny here, so I'll bring a can.

Leave it as is. Dan (as our numbers runner) deconflicts the assigned numbers against the reserved number list anyhow, so if he were showing up, we'd assign you another. In this case, I think he'll probably leave it alone. Anyone's who's assigned a new number will be notified within the next couple of days.

Break...just got a note that the entire registration team won't make it. That means I could really use two more people to be there at 7 to work the gate. We'll provide what little training is required -- with all entrants preregistered, it's just a matter of checking people against the access roster, getting them to sign the waiver, collecting money, and directing them to the site.

Kenny was knockin' some major pin, too!

It would be really, really, cool if someone at the event would volunteer to get that box back to me afterwards...

If you live in St. Pete I can bring it back, I'm guessing the box isn't bigger than the generator. :)

Break...just got a note that the entire registration team won't make it.

Coming from mid St. Pete and picking up ice, 7:30 is as earlier as I can be there.

I'll drop off the ice and drinks at the trailer and head back out to the gate as a 1st timer.

I was thinking about not going to this autocross... and I'm still thinking about it. Lots going on lately, inlcuding going to the track (Barber) next weekend. Spent all day today working on "the race car" with Jeff. If I have energy tomorrow, I'm thinking about spending some time working on MY car. But, that's not the purpose of this post...

Today I got an email from Jamie... the chairmain for this event... stating that he can't make it. (sometimes working for a living sucks)

It seems like we have a few key players who will be there bright and early getting things done. Kenny has the registration box and copies of the course map. I believe Drew will be there to help set the course up.

But... for this event to go smoothly, get started on time, and be awesome in general, we're going to need for as many people as possible to be there EARLY (7:30-8:00) and make it known that you're there and ready to help.

Several of the "high-level" regulars will not be at this event. (Dan Rasp, Steve Frank and Jamie Sculerati that I know of) There are enough knowledgable people left to make sure things get done right, they'll just need some help to get it done.

Support your local autocross club! :)
