I don't know John, me and Loren are entering a new car in J-class, it's really bitchin', might not pass inspection, but either way, I hope you can keep up. Yellow_Colorz_PDT_06

M going to need to borrow that kiddie car.
Cheryl just put the spousal smackdown on crossing her car. Won't even listen to an argument, which I suppose is fair considering they are her tires. Crappo!

My wife is the same way. I took one run in her car once... and she watched it... the run was fantastic! What happened afterward was not pretty.
Bring tire money, somebody will surely offer up something for you to drive. (just don't remind them that you're "that guy")

Wassup with the MX5? I thought it was running fine with CEL. Did you try to remove the CAI to see if it goes away?

You could try the old fix for everything on these new-fangled computer run cars. Just unhook the negative from the battery for five minutes or so. I would think if you sucked in enough water to damage anything it wouldn't be driving as good as you say it has been. Did you ever get Auto Zone to pull you a CEL code?
Maybe it's just me, but it seems like cars are dropping like flies.

John (TG) -- I'll bring my code reader tomorrow...if you drive the MX-5 in, we can see what it says.

Three cancellations at this point....

I've got Ed's code reader. The car runs fine- it's the AFR sensor (wideband o2 in front of the cat) reading low. The car is running rich in open loop mode and scangaugeII says the a/f ratio is really lean, so -- clearly the AFR sensor is knackered. I've investigated everything else, faulty MAF, vacuum leaks, etc.
What it comes down to now is this-- in order to preserve peace in the household I have agreed not to drive my car because of the CEL. (It would probably be fine, but if anything did happen, that would be the end of autocross for Johnnie *forever*) Cheryl will let me drive the Volvo to the event, but has forbidden me from racing it. I have agreed to these terms and will abide by them.
Chris B., I'm really sorry to be "that guy" and withdraw my offer of a drive in the Mazda, but my hands are tied.
It has been a difficult day. See you all bright and squirrelly!

I just got a text from Shon Sparks that he will not be out tomorrow either, as he has busted up his hand. As Shon was on supplies, we need someone to take over that duty. Anyone up for grabbing supplies?
Also, I'm beginning to think I'm hexed when it comes to chairing an event. Watch your back everyone if I chair another one. Apparently no one is safe.

John, FYI, when you go WOT (wide open throttle), the ECU goes open-loop and fuels by it's map (rich). So, a bad O2 sensor won't change a thing during autox... the drive TO Brooksville would be harder on the car than the autox itself, extended rich-running could be harmful to the cat.

I did not know that. I'm getting a crash course in OBD-II and engine management systems this week, that's for certain. If I was a single man, I would totally autocross it.
Per scangauge, the cat is running around 1250-1350 at cruise. The mix seems to be richest at idle when I can smell some petrochemically fumes after a few minutes.

Draft an assistant with a larger vehicle and do it in one trip! Always plenty of vehicles at an autocross.
Either way, thanks for stepping up to make sure it gets done. 8)

Dreamer...when we have people dropping out, it usually means someone picks up an extra job.
