FAST Duel - Invitations

Postby Loren » Tue Jan 17, 2012 1:29 am

Third round invitations!

Two weeks of registration left. There are now 11 spots remaining and registration is open to all "half members", those who have competed in at least 2 FAST events in the past 12 months.

I'm not making a list this time, if you're not sure whether not you've done 2 events, check the 2011 and 2012 season points charts on the website.

Second round invitations!

"Almost members", those who have competed in 3 FAST events since Feb 2011 are now invited.

Here's a list of known or suspected "almost members". If you fit the bill and aren't on the list, you're still invited!
David Aoun
Tod Byram
Sean Gilbert
Jim Luscombe
Kyle Marschall
Peter Perez
Richard Polczynski
Walter Shockley
Jesse Switek
Mark Warner

First round invitations!

Okay, I'm trying to save myself a little bit of work here and NOT email the entire member list. I know most of you read the forum, so here's the deal:
  • Below you will find the current "member list" as best I can determine *
  • If you're on that list, YOU'RE INVITED. Registration will open Wednesday night at 10pm, go for it. (if you're not on the list, DO NOT register, you're not fooling anybody :) and we won't give you a refund)
  • If my ability to count is not overly impaired, there are 58 names on the list and registration is limited to 48 drivers. So, registration may fill with this first round. If not, we'll open registration to "almost members", those with 3 events.
  • I'll give this until like Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, hopefully most of you will register. The ones who don't, I'll go ahead and email to be sure they got the word.

* We don't actually keep a "member list", so I had to go through the points sheets and event results to come up with this, and I gave credit to those who are registered for January. Members are those who have attended at least 4 FAST events in the past 12 months. If I missed you, PM me and I'll double check.

I plan on registering on Friday...if it'll let me in. LOL. I have been able to login and view the entry list, so hopefully all is well again between me and myautoevents.com. :d

Funny, at least 3 of the registrations so far have listed "timing" as a requested work assignment.

I just wasn't thinking, and that's what MAE has saved as my first choice. I'll change it on MAE, but put me down as "starter".

Yeah, you can go back and change your preference.

FYI, for each run group, there are two judges, a starter, and two grid workers. Pretty much everybody else is in the queue for course work. Tech is done in the grid as people line up for practice runs to save time, so it won't be a separate work assignment.

Would a co-driven car be in conflict with the spirit of the event? Or even possible?

I noticed that. I was a little nervous, but then I remembered that the timing lights will stay in the trailer, and the judges can run when they see you coming. So, it's all good! :snicker:

It's not preferred, but can be done. We'd just not allow you to compete against your co-driver in the primary rounds, you'd have to pick someone else. We'd try to separate you in the tournament brackets as far as possible so that you wouldn't have a chance of meeting before at least a semi-final round.

If that happens, you have the option of one of you choosing to drive another class-eligible car, or running stopwatch runs.

Stopwatch run info is in the rules.

Three days into pre-reg and we have 22 of 48 entries. Almost half way there!

I'll send out member reminder emails (again, please PM me if you're invited and know you're not going to register, thanks!) Tuesday.

May open registration to another level of folks as early as Friday... stay tuned.

Just emailed out invitations to members who haven't registered or told me that they aren't going to. (amazingly, none of them have bounced yet!)

I'll give those guys until Sunday night, then I'll take the next step of inviting 3-event "almost members".

Stay tuned.

Yet another person came up that I missed in the initial "members" list. We're up to 57 people who have done 4 events in the past year and are considered "members". Last time we checked a few years ago, that number was closer to 40! No wonder our 60-driver pre-reg fills up so fast!
