Stock Exhaust Options - Looks to be "Open"? Guidance?

Postby twistedwankel » Wed Apr 18, 2012 1:43 pm

I looked back a few years and saw no discussion on this so.......

So how far can we go with stock exhaust? Other than the "cat back" like some clubs.

It looks to be wide open assuming you don't make everyone deaf?

I picked up a lightly used high flow legal cat a few months ago is this legal in stock? (My new 'free' factory cat cost $1100 so I'm thinking about putting it in the attic for backup.)

It appears one can use any header to tailpipe combo and still stay in stock? I am assuming one cannot gut their cat and stay stock as that's theoretically illegal in all 50 states except off road.

Like someone said: If it doesn't say anything it's probably okay with FAST? :thumbwink:

Do whatever you want with your exhaust and stay in stock class.
But please don't make it stupid-loud, especially at SPC... 8-)

I have always wanted to pull off the muffler on event days and replace it with a short pipe pointed at the ground behind the cat. Our cars are just too darn quiet! And they can sound so good when uncorked!

I can't wait to hear how yours sounds after this.
