Car Show for handicapped kids

Postby stevesaei » Mon Nov 05, 2012 9:26 pm

Copied to this thread because of no response on the Off-Topic thread! We need about six or seven additional cars (and their owners) for this really nice event:

November is here and the 2nd annual Great American Teach-in Car Show is in the works. Last year, about a dozen F.A.S.T people with 8 cars showed up at Caminiti Exceptional Center in Tampa during the Great American Teach-in. Approximately 250, mostly mentally handicapped kids had an amazing time looking at, sitting in, and talking about the cars and visiting with our people. The kids talked about the cars for days, and our participants talked about the kids for weeks.

We have been asked to do it again on Friday, November 16 from approximately 10:30 AM t0 11:30-ish. It would be ideal to have about a dozen cars of any description participating. The kids liked everything from the classic Triumph to the Dodge pickup, so this is definitely a run-what-you-brung event.

Volunteers should contact Steve Seiter by phone (727-459-4781) or email (stevesei@tampabay.rr.com). Be prepared to provide some background information about your car, and to show up at:

Time: 10:00 AM
Date: Friday, November 16
Place: Caminiti Exceptional Center, 2600 Humphrey Street, Tampa
Contact: Steve Seiter, 727-459-4781 or stevesei@tampabay.rr.com

We guarantee to be finished by noon! The kids will love your car and you will love the experience.

Thanks guys! I have Matt and Eva's emails, but not yours, Scott. As you picked up on, this is really a fairweather event. The school won't take the kids out in the rain, and who needs open cars full of water!

I'll send out remaining details this week.

Cheers,

Steve
