Jan 5th New Years Event

Postby Solar » Sat Jan 05, 2013 7:36 pm

Another great event in the FAST books, thanks to Steve and whoever his co-chair was for putting on a very smooth event. We got 7 count them 7 runs ! Can't remember the last time we got that many runs at Brooksville and were finished by 4pm, great job !

Have to thank Matt Brooks for letting me drive his car and destroy his brakes and tires after my car had a mechanical issue. Took a couple runs to figure out how to drive a FWD car with a automatic, but it was fun. Matt, when you need a new set of brake pads, let me know.

Lunch by Doug was awesome as usual, wish I would've asked for leftovers. :)

Anyone by chance see how much fuel was left in the genny ? I put a bit over 2 gallons in it at 9:30 and it ran non stop until 4; which was obviously enough, but I don't think we want a lot of gas in the genny while it sits in the trailer.

Also, how did we do on water and soda ?

Can't wait to get the Nissan fixed and upgraded to M3 for next month, looking forward to another fun event.

Doug, do you have a co-chair for February yet ? If not, I am in, I have a course I designed last year that everyone liked that I'd like to use.

Fantastic event! X2 on the Seven runs, I really enjoyed the course, but as usual, it took me several runs to really get fast...... Still not enough to catch Howard! Congrats on the FTD.. But I'm watching you;)

Thanks to all that set it up! My plan to take the trash has worked perfectly.... I am scouring the lunch remains to extract DNA samples from all 1st place winners to use for a witches brew to clone the ultimate Autocross driver

Great job, everybody! I found Steve's course to be very challenging today. Car was loose and I got rattled. I'm bringing the heat in February, so watch out!

You know how when you're sick and have a crappy day, all the crap is amplified and just plain miserable? Today wasn't like that.

I'm on the recovery side of a pesky cold, and everything was awesome today! And the awesomeness felt amplified, in spite of the fact that I wasn't feeling 100%.

Having a small, but willing and dependable group of folks willing to haul our equipment trailer to Brooksville and back? Awesome! (Thanks, Charles, Ed & Mrs. Ed)

Having a great co-chairman? Awesome! (Thanks, Steve!)

All the setup people showing up on time and getting stuff done with almost no guidance? Awesome! (Thanks, Drew, Tim, Steve, Chris, Dave, Steve, Ron, etc.)

People actually listening (mostly) at the driver's meeting? Awesome! (Thanks, everyone!)

Hall's cough drops? Awesome!

Great course? Awesome! (Thanks, Steve, Drew and Dave)

No significant timing problems? Awesome! (Thanks, Ron, Rick, the timing crew, and everyone who could have walked through the lights, but didn't!)

The added fun of a few good announcers? Awesome! (Thanks, George, Chuck and Vivek!)

Seven runs? Awesome! (Thanks to everyone who was where they needed to be at the right time, and to vigilant course workers who kept things moving.)

Cuban Sandwiches and an endless supply of ice cold water and Dr. Pepper? Awesome! (Thanks, Doug and Brian)

Flogging someone else's well-prepared car at an autocross? Awesome! (Thanks, John!)

First time novice students who actually take instruction? Awesome!

Having plenty of people stick around to help pick up cones and pack the trailer? Priceless! (Thanks to ALL who helped!)

Getting ~60 drivers through 7 runs and having the trailer packed and ready to go by 4:22pm? Awesome! (Wow!)

BBQ at Hungry Harry's? Awesome!

The delightfully hot shower that I just took? Awesome!

Results posted before 9pm? Awesome! (Thanks, Ron! I'll have them up shortly.)

Getting to sleep in tomorrow? Awesome!

Whoo-wee that was one cool event! :thumbwink: The weather held out beautifully; everyone, and I mean everyone, was really on-the-ball and was so all day long! Dave was a machine at registration, the course was all set up and done before 9, all the courseworkers were sharp in getting into position for ALL 3 heats (which really helped the flow of the event -we didn't have to hunt down anyone) and did a fantastic job during the heats, timing ran flawlessly, lunch was excellent and timed perfectly (thanks, Doug), we had lots of help at teardown, hauling trash, and I know there's more but y'all get the idea

Several people complimented the course and I really appreciate that! Of course, the final design was by committee and tweaked to exacting standards during setup, and it turned out great. It had been a while since I'd designed a course, and I was really pleased with how it turned out (if I do say so myself). I drove it well, which hopefully I'll be able to repeat in February, and Drew and Chris beat me again, which I'd like to not repeat :-D

Brian - I believe Evan Warner is co-chairing February with Doug - someone correct me if I'm wrong.

SUPPLIES - I saw a cooler full of a variety of sodas, probably 2-3 cases, and I saw one full case of water. I will pick up some AA batteries for the radios. I think we have plenty of everything else. Don't know about the generator gas.

Thanks to everyone for a great event! Great job!

Just looked at the results by time. Positions 10-20 were all less than 1/10th from each other. Fantastic competition!

Greg! 1/100th back - well done! Neener, neener - can't catch me!!1!1!!!!

That's great if Evan is in, just pencil me in for the following Brooksville event. :)

If the fast you seek, become one with the car, you must.

You're on. (Evan realized he has a cruise and may miss the event.) This course doesn't have a single pivot cone at the far end does it?

Thanks for stepping up Brian.

**Really tough competition today. Good thing I have an excuse for breaking in a new set of tires :tears:

7 runs at B'ville--yes!
