Gymkhanna ESMTB vs Sarasota Miatas side bet!?

Postby rippin mazda » Wed Sep 26, 2007 1:47 pm

Doing a quick scan thru the pre-registered list their seems to be an equal amount of miate from the Sarasota area as there are from the Tampa area. Would anyone be interested in a little side bet for bragging rights between Sarasota Miatas and ESTBM clubs? A twist on the Tampa v. Orlando meet concept.

Scoring:
I propose that we add up the finishing points that each car earns in its respective class and then do a total for each club. Club with the highest number wins braggin rights. The amount of cars for each team (club) would have to be equal also.

Signing up:
Since I don't want to this to effect the actual event, I'll ask people if they are in while I am teching their cars.

Anyone interested or should I drop it?

Ryan

Not that I have a miata, but dare I ask what ESTBM is? Just a shot in the dark... "East Side Tampa Bay Miatas"?

I realize the club has gone through various changes/ affiliations prior to my involvement, but is this the predecessor to the now current "FAST"?

You're really close, and actually, Ryan got the acronym wrong.

ESMTB = East Side Miatas of Tampa Bay.

No, it's not the same club that FAST grew from, that was the SunRiders Miata Club. You'll notice that there aren't a lot of active SunRiders members involved in autocrossing any more... that's the big reason that we separated from them.

I'll definitely take a piece of that. We have Steve...no one has more experience driving Miatas backwards at autocrosses! :) And technically, we can claim Bill Flowers as well -- at the Sept event, we threatened to paint an arrow on his hood marked "This end in direction of travel".... With that talent, how can the East-Siders lose?!

With the talent I demonstrated in September I figure I'll be a shoo-in for the Gymkhana since we have to drive both ways for it.
