Potential New Sites
I had so much fun at TBD in October but want able to make November. Still a novice so not attending the Duel in December was looking forward to January but unfortunately it is currently scheduled for the same day as the Sunshine MINI statewide picnic. So at the moment looks like maybe February unless the date changes. Have you guys ever looked into Tampa Greyhound?

Yes, we've looked there. Unfortunately, it's not very usable for us.bigsteverealtor wrote:Have you guys ever looked into Tampa Greyhound?

Re: 2014 TENTATIVE Schedule
Hillsborough Community College has a nice driving pad (A little bigger than SPC) out on Adamo Dr. in Tampa. Has it ever been looked into? Or would two driving pads be too boring and similar?

Unless it's new, we've probably looked into it. What's the specific location?

Google Maps has it listed as 196 S. 34th St. Tampa, FL. Last I remember, the name of the guy in charge of that facility at the college was Jack Bish.

Re: Potential New Sites
Okay, I seem to remember looking at this one before. The paved area is 160x650'. That would be about as useful as a very short airstrip, except that there's less run-off on the perimeter. There's no extra space for grid and parking, so we'd have to give up a couple hundred feet of space for that. In the end, we'd have about 100x400' of space to work with. Sad, but true.
Their little test course south of the pad is kinda cool. Too bad we can't do anything with that, either.

That, too. But, our events have grown a lot since 2007. I wouldn't even bother looking at it now, it's just not big enough to hold a 100-car event that people would be happy with.

Re: Potential New Sites
Does this change anything for the grey hound track if the ownership change to Tampa Bay Downs is approved? or is the parking lot in too bad of shape for an autox?

I gave the dog track a good look a few months ago. It's usable, IF they're willing to force their patrons to park in the North lot. We haven't gotten around to inquiring with them yet. If they're being sold to TBD, at least we already have a relationship with them, and they understand what we do. This sale could actually help us.
