Brooksville May 18th "Love Bug Course"

Postby Solar » Sun May 18, 2014 2:09 pm

Typing this while the second session is probably finishing up their runs. Couldn't ask for a better day, great weather, great course, great people, and well run. FAST sets the bar on how a autocross event should be run.

Other than those pesky love bugs, the morning session was glitch free, 6 runs, and wrapped up by 11:40am ! Hope the second session went as smooth as the first.

Great job by everyone out there today who made today happen, I have some video I will post up later. :)

I agree, fun and technical course. The 1le needs some new shoes for sure...and a brake fluid upgrade!

Great day with some great folks. FAST knows how to make it happen. I wish I could have stuck around for the afternoon sesions but if it was anything like the morning it must have been a great time.

Hey, I'm normally on the other end of this request, but how about some results. :)

Had a great time too. Only got 3 runs in before my water pump went, but fun none the less!

It was a great day! Why did you morning guys only get 6 runs? We all had 8 in the afternoon along with a break for pizza and ice cream! We only counted the best six runs :rolling:

Loved the course, unfortunately we corded our Tires... Not sure we will be using the American Racer tires again, very soft compound but sloppy sidewalls and short life.

Ron, you're not allowed to be absent in the afternoon any more. Took me twice as long to prep the results and pack the equipment.

And after wrestling with the printer and finally getting it to print 4 pages of results... realized as I was starting to read the results that it printed results from MARCH! Only thing I can figure is that the old document must have been in a print spooler waiting to print. Ended up firing up the laptop again and reading direct from the screen. Eh, it worked.

That bit of weirdness aside, it was a pretty great event. Lots of great people having a good time on a chunk of WW2 era concrete. What could be better?

Results? Soon.

Working on the results. Had to dig up the important stuff while I was in there...

Doug's "Make the Mayor yo' Patsy in 3 runs" challenge went like so:
(all runs taken in Doug's RX-8 during the last run group)

Run 1:
Drew Scoda - 42.456
Doug Adams - 43.109
Matt Sullivan - 44.142
Loren Williams - 41.041

Run 2:
Drew - 41.188
Doug - 42.448
Matt - 42.010+1
Loren - 40.606

Run 3:
Drew - 40.781
Doug - 41.314+DNF
Matt - 42.330+1
Loren - Only needed two runs to beat these chumps! *

* I did cheat and take 3 runs in a Miata before these two runs. But, Doug's RX-8 ain't no Miata!

This was a fun little diversion. Thanks for letting us thrash your car, Doug!

Pretty impressive. I had my wife in the car for the first two runs that were clean and over cooked my third run....oops.
If Matt (co-driving due to broken car) could have stayed clean for 3 all three of these guys would have beaten me in 3. Which means you all would have beaten Patzy Z too which means you are ALL Nationally competitive should you desire to pay the dues and go to the GA Tour next March.

To further pat them all on their backs. My fastest time of the day was a mere 41.128 Which means both Drew and Loren beat me by .5 and .6 seconds which means they beat me fair and square no matter how many runs I took.

Congratulations to all on beating me in my own car period. Not alot of people have done that in the last 20 years.

I just realized that I completely forgot to wrap up the "Bring your Friends" challenge.

Looks like the Euro guys just plain walked on the rest of us with a total of 19 entries!

How should I go about choosing the three winners?
