A suggestion was made to me this weekend, and others have probably discussed it before, to keep an air compressor in the trailer for general use at events. Run it off the generator. That way air is available to whoever wants it, without messin' with 12 volt noisemakers.
What do folks think?
Air compressor in the trailer?

Just another thing to keep up with and lug in and out of the trailer.
Back when we were the Sunriders, we used to have a compressor in the trailer and it almost never got used. That compressor went to the "tech" program and I believe is still considered Sunriders property. I know where it is, though. (no, not my garage!)
My opinion: The club does enough, we don't need more equipment to keep up with.

Push Harder - Drive as close to the limit of your tires as possible.
Suck Less - Drive something resembling a proper racing line.

A 4 gallon "pancake" compressor wouldn't take up that much room in the trailer. If noise is a issue here, I believe that a "regular" compressor would make as much, if not more noise than the 12v car compressor. I like Charles idea of having a 12v on hand in case someone forgot or couldn't borrow someoen elses 12v compressor.

If a small portable one is the direction chosen, I highly recommend one of these. It flows at a higher volume than any of the little ones I have seen. I carried mine as a back-up when off roading and airing up 35" tires. Several folks have borrowed mine at recent autox events and had no problems. Not the cheapest 'portable' one available, but small and it works great. Long duty cycle and high volume for a 12 portable pump.
Google around and you will probably find it cheaper.

I have to fall in with the "why?" group. CFR SCCA and other clubs I've run with put out compressors, and they get indifferent use. While we'll be able to pack the new trailer more efficiently, we're still going to be tight on space. There are usually so many of the little 12v compressors out on grid that it's far easier to ask someone to borrow one (a good ice-breaker for newbies, as well) than to chase down on stored in the trailer...or keep track of it so it doesn't walk off.
