Camera Headrest mount for Recaro seats

Postby CaptainSquirts » Tue Dec 29, 2015 9:02 am

Hi, I tried looking for a dashcam mount that would attached to the headrest of Recaro seats. Thing is they don't have the headrest bars like regular car seats use.

I like camera position that is shown in the video below.

Anyone have any ideas on what could give me that kind of view?

I'd bet that his camera mount is secured to a sunroof somehow. But, that's Andrew Wong. He's on the forum and will probably reply.

Suck Less - Drive something resembling a proper racing line.

on the integra, using the gopro suction cup mount on the sunroof, plus a few extensions to make it mounted lower, on the GTI using a pvc pipe with with a gopro handlebar mount on the headrests since it doesn't have a sunroof. Some days with the sun it does wash up the course. The one video you linked I had to mess with the video settings.

Im not sure what to do if you dont have a sunroof or removable head restraints, probably need to get creative to mount it. It has crossed my mind a few times. Maybe a long pvc pipe with two suction cups mounted on each side mounted to the rear window and using the handlebar mount

I do have a sunroof and tried it there. It is set to high for my liking though. Since I'm using a dashcam with suction cup instead of something like a go pro have any idea what I could do to get an extender?

got any pictures of the dash cam?

I bought these pieces for my gopro so it would sit lower when mounted using the sunroof.

Andrew that looks a lot like an alien orifice probe.

Joe just sticks it on his helmet which is very effective seeing where you are headed before you get there.

based on the picture you provided and the images i looked on google, would there be any way to attach something between the mount and the camera to lower the camera position? Looks like you would want to have it lower by 6in or so

Yea not sure what I could use to have something giving me at least 6 inches of space from sunroof. I tried it from the front window and it wasn't that bad. I think I'm going to stick with the front window view for a while until I find a good reason to get the other view for now.

Most seat backs wiggle when the car is moving. I assume that's why no one is normally using that as a mounting point.
