Endurocross Extravaganza March 9, 2008

Postby Bone » Wed Feb 13, 2008 7:57 am

FAST is pleased to announce an Endurocross Extravaganza to take place on March 9, 2008 at Brooksville. This will be a limited entry event. Invitations have been sent out to people that have volunteered in the past to make FAST a success, as a way of saying thanks. Once all RSVPs are returned, there may be additional space available, so stay tuned. There are criteria that will be utilized for determining eligibility for this and future invitationals, which may include the following:

1. Contributions to FAST:
2. Participation in FAST events:
3. Plans to contribute to FAST in the future:
4. Driver experience.

If you did not get an invitation this year, volunteer to learn one or two of the jobs on the sign-up sheet for future events, and help this all volunteer group continue its success. If you did get an invitation, please let us know if you will be able to attend.

Rules

Postby Bone » Wed Feb 13, 2008 8:47 am

This is a rough outline of the rules for March 9. They will be finalized as far as runs and run groups prior to the event. The rules come from Loren, who organized another EnduroCross some time ago. Thanks man!

EnduroCross Rules

COURSE WALKING
• The course will be open for walking ONLY prior to the first run.

RUN GROUPS
• TBD once all RSVPs received
• The plan is to NOT STOP RUNNING for anything once we begin. We will change course workers out one or two at a time while the event is running. With 3-4 minute runs, this is easy.

RUNS
• Each driver will get at least three runs.
• The first run will be a short practice run of two laps and will not be officially timed.
• The remaining two runs will each consist of multiple laps around the course. To give us 3.5 to 4 minute runs… be ready! The course will be “easy”… but after about the 4th lap you start getting tired. Be sure you’re well-hydrated.)

FLAGS
• Watch the finish flagger at the exit lane as you come around the final sweeper.
• The whitish flag indicates that you are beginning your final lap.
• The checkered flag signals the end of your run, please exit the course!
• Creaming the double cones blocking the finish lane if the flagger forgets to move them does not count against you. Please finish on the checkered flag!

CONES
• DO NOT stop on course for a downed or misplaced cone after your first lap. If it’s down, YOU hit it and it’s already been counted against you.
• Each driver will be allowed three cones per run without penalty. Use them wisely.

PENALTIES
• If you choose to exit the course prior to completing all of your laps, you will receive a DNF.
• If you choose to take one or more additional laps after your checkered flag, you will receive a DNF.
• If you take too many or too few laps as a result of a flagging error, you will receive a rerun. (woohoo!)
• 2-seconds will be added for each cone after your “3 for free”.

Reg. is fine with me. Dave can join in to, if he wants to learn it (he posted that somewhere else...)

For those of you that WOULD like to attend this event, but did not get an invitation yet, feel free to send me a PM regarding your volunteering in the past (in case I missed you - sorry!) and your plans to volunteer in future events. We have had a great response from the initial invitees, but may have one or two spots open up as we get closer.

I don't want to speak for the event chair, but I believe that this event, invited or not, will be limited to those who have attended at least 4 events with FAST in the last year.

Ron will please correct me if I'm wrong. 8)

edit: Yang - I don't see you signed up for the regular event on the 8th. Only 6 spots left...

As I said in the other thread (but bears repeating), I'll be there for both days with the timing gear.

Sure, Ron, I'll do Safety.

This is going to be fun!

I have a continuing education class for work I simply can't reschedule. It was planned a way back in Jan.

Originally planned to come out both days, but now that the Sunday event is so exclusive, I'm trying my hardest to get in

I'll be there this Sunday though, sharing my car with Bill!

I am busy Sunday morning so I won't be able to accept the invite.

However, I'll drive up Saturday afternoon to tow the trailer home.

Also, it appears that I was so distracted with personal issues (it all turned out great) that I didn't sign up for March 8 in time, so I'll be making two trips in the SUV to tow the trailer up and back without running that weekend.

Actually, March is so busy for us I don't mind missing it.

I believe that we'll be leaving the trailer up there overnight, Bill. You may not have to make all those trips.

Yes, I was figuring that the trailer would be left. Two trips: one to deliver it Saturday morning and one to pick it up Sunday afternoon.

Oops! I just re-read what I wrote above. I meant to say "I'll drive up SUNDAY afternoon to tow the trailer home", not Saturday!

I'm more than willing to learn some skills (Set up/tear down), and volunteer at future events. If given the opportunity. :D
