Yeah, it was hot. But, it's been hotter. The rain helped cool it off a bit, or it would have been WAY hotter in the afternoon!

Yeah, we got some rain. It started right about the time the 3rd car of the Late Session drove through the gate. AND... it was down to a light drizzle in time for the course walk. AND... it was done by the end of the driver's meeting. By the time drivers in the first afternoon run group were starting their 2nd runs, the course was DRY. As far as rain goes, it was about as non-intrusive as it could have been.

Yeah, the FASTiva is out again. Oil pressure light keeps coming on. So, Ben parked it after one run. Dammit.

Very few no-shows today, that was pretty cool. Especially in the Late Session, where a bunch of no-shows would have made things VERY difficult to manage.

HUGE thanks to all of the people who stuck around to help us clean up at the end of the day! Y'all are awesome!

Kudos to Jason Ball for bringing out his weedeater, and to Drew Scoda for using it in a couple places to carve out some work stations.

Thanks to Dan Brentnall for letting me abuse his Mazda 3 again. It was great fun!

2nd in class, 10th overall. The long sweeper leading to the first set of slaloms after the turn around was a nice learning experience. Felt like the rear was getting light(I wasn't flat out) so I kept it partial throttle with the fear of going too fast and spinning out. Then after getting some advice about getting more weight on the rear from accelerating. Kinda spooked me to try and just keep the throttle flat out but I tried it. Very surprised it held fine and car felt more confident rather than partial throttle.

I relinquished any chance of placing this season by taking the car apart, but I guess it was for the best.

Notable damages, drivers side motor mount split in two and turbo support bracket was snapped at the top rear mounting point. Likely causes of the random clunks I would get.

My body finally took over and I passed out right before 3. Hopefully I can get that stupid stud in the hole tonight. Like many loss of virginity attempts, last night was a failure.

Bill and I finished 55 and 57 overall in an automatic station wagon on 195 all seasons that are about 12000 treadwear.
We rock.

And yes, thank you very much to everyone - especially the cleanup folks!

That's not the same course we ran on. No Rain. Cones way further apart. Definitely an AWD course with Computer controls for sure.

I couldn't use a camera 'cause the light was so bad. Well at least Joe kicked butt and got FTD with his M2 champion car which for some unknown reason is for sale?? He beat Elliot for Pete's sake.

Step up someone and buy it. Maybe Ron R will buy it? Maybe the other Dan will buy it and let Ron co-drive it? Nah. Bad Dan is never going to help poor defenseless Ron who cannot even walk the course to see where it goes. Maybe next year? Bad Dan will probably move away but show up on Monday's for dinner to rub it in?

Look, here's the deal.
You morning guys were laughing your asses off when the rain poured on our PM asses dousing our hopes of winning anything for the second time in a row.

Well guess what. Last time you kicked our butts in a torrential downpour. THIS time we out smarted your dry witted humorless asses. WE kicked your butts. Ha.

DW tires rule. Clean concrete kicks butt. Our driver's meeting included the specific instructions on how to drive no matter what the course conditions. Autocross for Dummies. Steve and Loren have a script for everything.

I finished 3rd behind 2 AWD cars..... I had the funny UK Dan as a co-driver and he showed me how to drive in the frickin' rain. Don't mess with the points leaders!! Screw us once ok, screw us twice....shame on us. Next time you will all finish off the podium.

Podium = Place one stands to get a wet ass from Champaign or Milk.

I really enjoyed the course, but after watching some videos, I've noticed I still SUCK at crossovers. I don't know why, but I have a nasty habit of getting sucked to those green cones and pinching off the corners. I always make a mental note during course walk, but that seems to be a waste.

Did the same thing, Steve was saying, "lots of throttle", seemed to good to be true, 2 DNF's, until I found the, "greenish/yellow" cone gate I was missing. Though, Steve was right, I was flat footing it out to the cross over, and back, and braking through the slightly decreasing slalom at the end, it was a blast !

Tons of fun today, the instructor run in the BRZ just told me how much I miss those (but dang they have no power). / still bummed tho that he still DNFed all his runs.
