My son is 16 years of age, can he drive? The site states "over" the age of 16. I just wanted to clarify before we committed to an event. I am a past autocrosser and driver's ed participant with PCA and feel that these events can provide much needed experience to make him a better safer driver on the road. I want him to experience driving his own car to the limits so he knows where they are and what happens if he goes beyond. I think all new drivers should have this experience.

I recently reviewed the rules for a grandson. "Must be 16 and have a valid driver's license." Not just a "permit". Insurance rules. If it helps you cannot bring your pet either unless it has a driver's license. Insurance is king. This is a great club for learning to handle a car. I made all my kids drive xcross before they got their license in the "old" days when they still could with a permit. Something about a parent waiver too? Loren will pipe up soon and welcome you with open arms and accurate info.

His age is fine but he will need a driver's license and a minor waiver signed by a parent.

Lot of information can be found on the rules pages. I'm also a big fan of autocross as a driver training. Looking ahead, smooth steering inputs, spatial awareness, judging corner speed, the list goes on.

Doug speaks the truth:
To drive, must be at least 16 and fully licensed. Under 18 and we have a minor waiver that must be signed by adult parent/legal guardian.

Philip is truth, too!

Yup, bring the kid. Come out with him. We've got novice instructors available all the time. Or, if you feel qualified, you can ride with him and teach him yourself.

If we weren't clear enough... our insurance requires a full driver's license. So, as long as he's 16+ and has his license, and you're coming with him, he's good to go!

The "Push Harder, Suck Less" philosophy explained:
Push Harder - Drive as close to the limit of your tires as possible.
Suck Less - Drive something resembling a proper racing line.
