Congrats to the FAST team for putting on a ferocious event where no one had a clear path to victory except maybe S1 and S2 as Randy and Jason were simply on fire. Those cars are actually stock so it has to be pure skill!! :thumbwink:

Congrats to Loren as due some cone issue on my second run both he and I had a tie of 40.061 on my 3rd run. Yikes. Lucky for me due to brain fade I started my final run in 2nd gear (which seemed actually faster) only to stop for a downed cone shortly up the track. My rerun was clean but I still couldn't beat the M4 Mike in the hybrid antique .... darn. I did manage to inch out Loren in the Measurable Mirage by a tad.

I went home with head held high but saluting Bob Teasley who did a 36.8+1 to get the last sticker in R1 by a huge margin...wow. Elliot won R1 using an open diff as he fried his 1966 posi. He still beat the co-driven Lotus 7 with only one drive wheel. They don't build them like they used to .... fortunately ... in this case weak.

I loved this course as did everyone I talked to. Some people discovered how to use 3rd gear and forgot how to downshift/rev match. Ouch. The newbies loved the course in the first heat when I was an instructor. They all improved and never went off course. Awesome. Yes my guy spun out but a minor air adjustment on those All seasons and he was on the way to improving by 2 seconds clean. Super.

Thanks guys for my 4th place points due to you showing up in R1 - the only guy driving to the event once again in R1:)

Good lord I never thought I'd see as deep into 3rd gear at an event as I did today! 60mph felt super fast for me, I can only imagine the amount of ass those vettes were hauling! (Probably 60.9mph)

While not my best showing, my car has never felt better and today's event was awesome. Thank you!

Glad you'uns had a good time! Hopefully everyone did.
This was one of those events when we walk away after the morning 4 runs finished so quickly, and wondered, "why didn't we do 5 runs?" Well, you know, sometimes the two sessions aren't always equal... and we've been caught by that before and ended up with really long afternoons, which are a bit of drag (ever work course for a really long run group?). We finished up right on time in the p.m., with the same 4 runs. All good!

Many thanks to those who participated, cooperated, and volunteered. :notworthy:

Bill's dirty 41.1 in the Griswold Special beat my clean 41.5 - and he sure didn't save 4/10ths by snipping that cone... that's two in a row, BIll! Nice job! :blackeye: (I hear Philp got some good action shots of me nearly losing it near the pre-finish slalom - can't wait to see those!).

Just a couple of reminders:
Please wear closed shoes. Everyone.

Courseworkers: when a car has spun near the finish, and is blocking the course, and the other car is coming up on them, please remember that your job is to make sure the two cars don't meet. We had a couple of moments today when all were so engrossed in the spinout that no one thought to mind the oncoming car. Good thing the drivers were looking ahead...

Corvette club called, they asked for their course back... lol.

Hey, today was fun, and what a day to have fun. I felt like there was a sticker there for the taking after a few adjustments, but I got greedy on my last run and had to lift. Next time!

For real...I'm running my rX8 with them tomorrow and I'll show them where the boxes still are with no rain? :) Thanks for the idea. I think my Rx8 (I) might be actually faster on this course with less torque? I could bearly face Loren after he told me we were 'tied'....yikes. Motivation. Thank the Lord for reruns on hot tires.

OH and guys/gals the results have been posted for hours now. How do you spell Loren and That timing guy who finished 2nd in M1? A W E S O M E.

That was a whole lot of fun. Those fast, cross course sweepers... :lust:

Nate and I discussed our propensity for having our first run be our fastest, and how soul crushing that was. So, today I at least attempted to buck the trend and focus on being faster at one element at a time instead of just pushing too hard the entire course and it seemed to work out well. I was totally surprised to shave a second off on my last run. I was really wanting a 37.xxxx so 37.2 was pretty satisfying. That second told me there was a 36.xx to be had.

Drew, that cone in the exit chute wasn't me, see video.

I knew that wasn't you, but had no idea how long it had been down, so someone got a freebie.

3rd gear? bah! I was on the rev limiter in 3rd right out of the 3 double cone mini slalom thingy. 4th gear is where the real ballers were at. :o
Of course, actually shifting into those gears eluded me today, mis-shifted on every run. 2nd run was okay, but went slower than my first, trying to make sure it was clean after 2 cones on run #1, I guess. Or my passenger Andrew is way heavier than he looks. Maybe that fantastic 'fro isn't very aerodynamic.
After money shifting the 2-3 shift on the last run, I just bailed. Another blown run. Save the tires for:

Fun course. Last event that required an upshift/downshift I sucked, never really practiced it much so I did garb. Been practicing it on the streets whenever I could and I was finally able to do decent at it this event. If I didn't get very squirmy at a section high 36 was possible but I failed. Also Pilot Super Sports > Re-71's(damn you corvette! :rolling: ).

P.S Damn Ron, slow down.
P.S.S What happened Les!

Here's my fastest. Also looking for feedback, obviously the squirmy part after the turn around was not good but if anything else call em out!

Here is me nailing the crossover cone on my last run... I thought I had my gps on to record mph but since I didn't D:

[rant]Yeah, I came through the finish really hot, on the rev limiter in 2nd, on my fastest run and could not stop before running over Les's cones and just stopping in time to keep from hitting him. Should have been red flagged but I wasn't. When I was working station 1 I had to run all the way across the runway to red flag a car (Philip) that station 6 should have red flagged but they were looking at the spun car. And in the first run group of the afternoon at least 30 minutes was wasted by hold start calls for a single cones, red flags for spins where the drivers that spun idled back to the finish, all those 2 or 3 minute halts add up especially when most result in reruns. I think another line needs to be added to the driver's meeting for people who spin to drive the remainder of the course at speed and not like they are looking for a parking place. I am pretty sure a lot of time was wasted in the second afternoon run group also because many times I was standing in grid wondering why there were no cars on course[/rant]

Today was... Interesting lol I didn't get a single clean run in and I also did some plowing in the dirt. Glad I could send these worn out tires out in style for their last event.

Thanks. Now I get it. In the morning the slaloms were farther apart, the turn around was much more open and there was much more space on the last part of the final slalom. Much smoother course!! Hardly use brakes at all. 2 seconds smoother for sure.

The double spin in the morning's second run group. From station 2's perspective, that was scary. It's a damn good thing FAST leadership hammers home those safety point in the driver's meeting. Seeing all the course workers fleeing and not fixed on the previous spin was nice to see. Good job :thumbwink:

Great time. Nice people, well organized and executed (as usual).

Great competition in M4 these days. Nice time by Mike R!

Still have lots to learn but some things are sticking. Will miss the enduro but look forward to the next open.

Post-event BBQ has been consumed. Got my hot shower out of the way. Had a bowl of ice cream because Soraya didn't. And now, I've just made it into the first page of the post-event discussion!

Great event! The course was a bit faster than intended. (I heard somebody hit 60.9 mph!) It was fine on the way out, but a bit too fast coming toward the finish, IMO. Live and learn, I suppose. And, it's good to have a fast one every now and then to keep things interesting.

As the Mayor said, Results are up.

Damn, Philip... you'll just throw in a shift ANYWHERE, won't you?

Here's my fastest raw run, a 39.5. I grazed a cone somewhere near the beginning. I knew I hit it, so I went "kamikaze"
(at least as much as I'm capable) to see what kind of time I could get. My best clean run was 40.06x

That "click" you keep hearing in the video... I noticed on my way home, it's the "jesus handle" on the driver's side. (I guess that means it's an "assist" handle rather than a jesus handle, hopefully the driver's holding on the steering wheel!) It seems that both screws securing it have come loose!
