Isn't it about time we had a dry event? What an awesome day! Hot. But, awesome.

Results are up. We'll get the points updated soon.

Huge thanks to everyone for making today, and this entire season, enormously successful and fun! :thumbwink:

July 28 - 2018 Season Finale!

Man, y'all are slackin'.

Season Points are now updated!

This is semi-final, pending review. Review by me, review by Steve, and review by YOU. Give 'em a look, let us know if you see any errors.

At a glance, there are some apparent "ties" in the trophy positions. Here's what you need to know:
R1 - Ken only competed in 3 events. That's less than the required 5. Thus no tie, he's out.
M3 - The first tie-breaker is to look at first place finishes. Tyler has 3. Joe has 1. So, Tyler is 1st, Joe is 2nd.

That takes care of the ties. And as near as I can tell, no class has more than 10 eligible drivers, so no 4th place awards.

Many funs were had this year. Thanks to everyone involved.

As for today, I have never had so much fun being so slow. I was evidently doing something very wrong out there. Only managed 1 quick run but snagged 2 cones along the way, no idea which ones. Fell below the line of shame and it hurt, A LOT. Better luck next time I guess. Super fun course though. Felt fast, even though I was slow.

Great event today, I thoroughly enjoyed the course and had a good feel for it after my second run. Great way to end the season. Looking forward to the FAST picnic next!

Perhaps everyone is as beat as I am from that brutal heat lol. I know there's probably not much we can do about it, but course work was really tough in the grass that was about half as tall as I am, and hidden ant piles.. I got torn up when i accidentally stepped in one. Then i got my ass kicked by that blue miata, holy cow I can't remember the time I was that far off ftd, let alone a win in my class lol.

But now that my whining is out of the way, it was an awesome season and I want to thank everyone who makes it possible for us.

Not much we can do about the ants, but we can ask the airport about cutting down the weeds for us.
But now that my whining is out of the way, it was an awesome season and I want to thank everyone who makes it possible for us.
Thanks for being a part of it, Mark!

That would be great, you're right the ants have always been there you just had to watch where you were stepping.. it would also help people be able to stand further back off the runway. As the weeds have gotten taller, it's made a lot of people stand really close to the edge. Spooks a lot of drivers when workers are so close. Hopefully the airport won't have a problem cutting them down :thumbwink:

This was another great season, thanks all!

As you may know, I modified the stang and attacked M2 this season.
The good news: When compared to my benchmark racers, last season to this season, I shaved and average of 2 seconds, ok ok the math says 1.75. However I'm very happy with the results of the improvements!

The bad news: Those M2 guys are no joke, they've brutally welcomed me, and explicitly conveyed that I need to drop at least another 2 seconds to be taken seriously. I welcome the challenge and look forward to next season.

Fixed that, I love to see workers eyes get big when I am crossing the runway wide open and they think they are in my path, occasionally they are.

The area around where we park the trailer is maintained by the airport. The rest of the area around the runway is a commercial hay field. It will be mowed/harvested whenever the presiding grower decides it is time. A quick google search suggests late August/early September for Florida hay crops. So, maybe by the start of next season.
Don't fault the airport, though.

Yeah, that's a given. Anybody with less than 5 events gets bypassed for awards.

Congrats on picking the right day for the last event. Today/Sunday was a whole different crazy lightning for a couple hours and a ton of rain in Hernando lasted most of the day :thumbwink: I had actually put my WD rain tires on the car thinking I'd be there in the afternoon session.

Next season will be interesting who jumps to different classes.

Late again here...

Great end to the season, right down to the weather. I'll echo the thanks to everyone who's been a part of us, and who has contributed in ways both big and small! :notworthy:

And same goes for this specific event - very much appreciate everyone coming out and making it such good group and a good time. Soroya, Nathan, Loren - I sure enjoyed driving your cars - it's wonderful what you've each done with them to make them competitive. And Ken - I'll take a raincheck on runs in yours - thanks!

And not that anyone would be too concerned, but my first run was in Loren's car, then 2-3 in Soroya's, 4 back to Loren, and 5 in Nate's (not an M4 car - I didn't actually hit 10 cones :snicker: ).

This was the most fun I've had at an event in a while! The course was really fun and I enjoyed the return side too much haha. Finally got some video of a few of my runs. Managed to peel almost 1.5 seconds off my time in the afternoon. Too bad my camera mount broke just before lunch :bangwall: Anyways here's my poor attempts at going fast in my car and "instructing" in Doug's S2K.

Great job of "instructing" there Andrew. LOL

Great course, especially the return side. It was hot as dammit, but finally an event without rain at least. Too bad I failed to suck less and capitalize on the dry pavement and finish better. I'll blame it on having not autocrossed on dry pavement in months, it was a shock to the system. Anyway, here is the run that could have at least been a reasonably good finish overall and in class, would have gotten me 3rd place in the season in fact were it not for the one stupid cone that got in my way...

I had a great time this Saturday, although it was blazing hot and I could pass for a lobster. I improved on my first couple of runs by quite a bit. I managed to make my final run the fastest and didn't mow any cones down in the process. Andrew gave me some great pointers and I was able to put them into practice to some degree and it made a noticeable difference in my later runs. I started in January and didn't make it to as many events as I would have liked to until just recently, but I'm looking forward to running a full season with FAST and learning from all of you. Thank you to everyone who has given me instruction and made these events such a great experience! I'm eager to continue to become a better driver.

Here was my final and fastest clean run.
