Miata questions

Postby yamaha731 » Sat Aug 11, 2018 1:03 pm

So I picked up a 99 miata. Its ugly but runs good. It looks pretty stock accept for Agx adjustable shocks and 15x8 rims. Tires I was thinking R-S4 either 225/45/15 or 245/40/15.
My question is is it still eligible for stock or would it be moved to a modified class also any thoughts on the tire size.

If all that's been done are the AGX shocks with stock springs, you'll be in S4.

Does that imply you don't have tires yet? If not, spend the extra $30/tire and get Rivals -- the Rival 1.5 definitely faster than the RS-4, and you can get it in both those sizes.

And take a minute to read all one page of the rules. C'mon!

Also consider if you care about being within SCCA stock class rules. Shocks are still free, but wheels are not.

Full bench press or clean and jerk?

So I took Miata wheels and tires and stuck them on a 3799lb whale. Won't you all feel lame when I let (Drew, Ron or Loren) put down a number for PAX. BTW the skinny 6.5" stock wheels and 70 AS tires will fit any 5 bolt Miata if you are up to it? Didn't think so as the tires would probably rub thru the top of the fenders....koolaid kids.

So I was under the miata they other day (just hanging out) and notice it did not have a muffler. I'm going to pick up a glass pack is that going to be sufficient for your sound rules?

No muffler at all? No, a glass pack isn't going to do it.

You should be able to find stock muffler cheap. People are often giving them away... about 3 years after they upgrade and get tired of them taking up space.

Like every other car, a glass pack resonator behind the cat, and a proper muffler at the back will work.
