March 2-day event planning for SPC
Hey. We need a chair for February's event. Who wants it?
As for March, we need a plan and a chair/co-chairs. We have a cancellation deadline at B'ville if we're not gonna use the two days, so it's time for someone to start working on whatever this is gonna be.

As I said before at the event, I will chair the event, but it would probably be better if I had a co chair since it would be my first time.
If I chair it, there would be an event on Sunday, and some sort of fun day on Saturday (negotiable, but I like the idea of an Endurocross like there was last year).

Carl, if you're going to do an Enduro, I'd suggest running the regular event on Saturday. That way you can use the same (or almost same) course on Sunday... it will be set up, tested and ready to GO first thing Sunday morning.
Time is the most critical factor of an Endurocross. (ask Ron... in fact, ask Ron to co-chair! 8) ) The more time you can free up, the more time everyone gets to "endure".

Like you said, though, and Loren suggested - get a good co-chair for whatever you choose to do. Just ask the person you think has the experience/skilz/ability to help you get it right. NO pressure.

Awesome... So, volunteers for co chair in March?
Also, I would be more than happy to hear all of the thoughts as to what should be done with the extra day. I had just an awesome time at the last endurocross, but I'm sure that there could be a whole slew of other things that would be just as fun to do. Let's hear some ideas and get planning!

People probably won't like this cause it's a little hardcore. But I have always wanted to do it.
2 day event. Different courses each day. Add your best times from each day to make a combined time for the final results. This is how national level events are run, but they only get 3 runs per day.
Just an idea, I may have more later. And I am not interested in co-chairing at this time.

I agree on the work issue. If you weren't driving, then you were working. I don't mind that in a 2 run group autocross, but in this case you were literally driving for 3? or 4? minutes for one run, then running to your work assignment so another driver could come in to run, all day long...Jeremy wrote:Endurocross was fun, but it was a lot of work. How about a one way autocross? Get 2000 ft of cable. Use entire width of runway.

I think a one-way course would be cool, but it brings with it the problem of getting everyone back to the start line again.
One solution that I like would be to design a course that can easily be run in both directions. Run the entire grid through one run (so that they're all at the other end), then reverse the timer cables and send them all back through to the other end. Do that 3 times for 6 runs (effectively on two different courses). We should be able to maintain the usual 25-30 second start interval doing it that way no matter how long the course is, so it wouldn't add any time.
That would be different and fun.

I like this idea, too. Trying to essentially run two courses at the same time would be fun and challenging.

I hope y'all aren't gonna be too mad at me, and I'll only take 99% of the blame because the correct information has been posted previously elsewhere, but...
The March two day event is in St. Pete, not Brooksville. We have 2 days in Brooksville in October.
At SPC we can still do a two-day autocross on different courses, or run it backward, for a cumulative score...
