I cannot find an on line catalog which states a tires Tread Wear Rating, they only list Unifrom Tire Quality Grading
Is this the same or what?

Re: UTQG vs TWR
The Uniform Tire Quality Grading System is the Federal DOT system for indicating tire quality. It includes the treadwear rating, traction rating, and temperature rating. The traction and temperature grades are based on measurable standards. Tire wear isn't -- it's a relative figure based on a control tire chosen by the manufacturer. Re: UTQG vs TWR
Well here's the problem, you require a treadwear rating of 140 or higher for a "street tire" class, I can't find the treadwear rating, All I'm able to find in the UTQG, and that seems to be the new rating system, so is a tire with a UTQG the same as a tire with a treadwear rating?

Re: UTQG vs TWR
If you're looking at a number, then yes...temperature and traction are graded with letters. Tell us what tire you're looking at; I'll bet I can find the data.

Wow, that's a heck of a link, anyway, if you look at the tires listed they have varying UTQGs, I talked to either Tire Rack or Discount Tire Direct, (I forget) but they insisted that the UTQG was what I needed for the 140 rating. I'm not buying it so I thought I'd ask an expert.

Re: UTQG vs TWR
They're correct. In that list, the Kumho Victoracers and V710, and the Hoosier A6 don't qualify as street tires. Since the snow tires don't have UTQG ratings, I suppose they technically don't either, but we'll give you a special waiver if you autocross on snow tires.
(I shouldn't laugh too hard...I ran my first autocross on snows!)

Re: UTQG vs TWR
The numeric part of the UTQG is the tread wear rating. However UTQG has other (alpha) parts as well for traction and temperature grades.blacksheep-1 wrote:I cannot find an on line catalog which states a tires Tread Wear Rating, they only list Unifrom Tire Quality Grading

Just use the number from the UTQG and you will be fine.
The Jag complains about autoX by throwing Gearbox Faults.
I think it is just lazy.
