I had a great time. Loren, that was a pretty cool idea with having two courses. Everything seemed to run smoothly, we had a lot of runs on the competition course plus as many as you wanted on the practice course. It was awesome.
I hope all the novices I road with actually got faster after the few tips I gave them. It was really cool riding with you guys. I'm in charge of the novice awards, and I'll post the results of who took the top three spots for you novices as soon as the results are posted. I'm also going to be the chairman at the novice school in March, where there will be much better instructors than myself and I hope to see you there.
Tim in the infinity, I hope you get your clutch issue fixed. It was really fun having you,Bob, and myself so close time wise in G.
Chuck, awesome run. Congratulations on winning G today.

Big, huge, hell yeah to Loren for the killer dual course setup. They both were a blast and I think we all got a TON of seat time. Only bad thing about being the co-chair, I thought I'd be too busy to take photos so I'm afraid this will be the first time for me to not publish any. I've only got a couple of in-car vids I'll post up later.
Hope everyone enjoyed the competition course...even with the nail biter at the end. I must say, it gave me issues too, but it slowed down the finish and for the most part kept everyone save (my spin out at the finish didn't help, but seemed to be entertaining). I was a ton of fun designing my first course. I look forward to chairing an event mid 2010! Hope to see ya at Brooksville in January.

Excellent. This is the best FAST event..ever.
The two-course format is repeatable, and should be often. With four cars running at once, everybody rides plenty.
I appreciate the seat time.
Hope all the novices had a good time.

I am exhausted! Glad everyone enjoyed this "out of the ordinary" event. Was a great way to close out the year.
Thanks to EVERYONE who helped make it happen. Far too many to list.

Re: December 12th 2009 Brooksville
Eric, Loren, and the rest of the cast, excellent job today. Cool event that went off without a hitch. I drove a bunch of runs, about 62 I think (maybe 87, I lost count). Some of those runs were pretty good. Others I've convinced myself that no one happened to be watching at the time...
Had a good time getting and giving a few rides.
I enjoyed the two course format, too. Both courses were plenty entertaining, and the end of the timed one wasn't bad at all if you slowed enough and at the right time and took the right line [runs and hides].
Did I mention we need a chair for the January event (and every event thereafter, except March)? I double-dog dare you...

Re: December 12th 2009 Brooksville
Loved the two course idea. Although the trailer should be in the middle IMO with one course going out in each direction.
I was somewhat surprised how well my beater did considering the blown shocks and all, I really need to spend some money on fixing it.
And I even learned about a new miata problem today... (sorry Steve!

Re: December 12th 2009 Brooksville
Dave, while there are benefits to a "shared grid" layout, I sort of liked having practice completely separate. It made that whole practice thing feel a lot more casual, and it kept an extra 15 people from being in the general vicinity of the competition course... less people milling about makes things easier to run. I'm certain that played a role in us being able to keep kicking out a car every 25-30 seconds for 4.5 hours with very few interruptions.
Another issue that Jamie brought up when we talked about it before the event was that if we put both grids in the middle, it means we have active course on the "entry" end. Not a huge deal, but makes it a little more difficult for people to come and go... and more people come and go than you might think.

The Nov. points are done, and as soon as Dec. results are posted, I'll add those and get the new table posted.
Brian will get everyone caught up on stickers in Jan., I'm sure.

Re: December 12th 2009 Brooksville
I kind of agree with Dave's idea for double grid in the middle or at least a little more space separating the courses in the middle.Loren wrote:I am exhausted! Glad everyone enjoyed this "out of the ordinary" event. Was a great way to close out the year.
I thought the format was a nice change of pace, but borrowing another set of timing equipment would be great if it can be arranged next time around.
I enjoyed the finishing side of the competition course and the starting side on the practice course.
Being able to do car swapping is always fun and much easier in this format with short courses and 800 runs.
We even got to see twinkle toes Loren putting some of our HP cars through their paces with only minimal carnage for the z06 that I saw

So I guess more stuff blowed up yesterday after I left to trailer Jason's Miata home? Sounds like internal motor damage for his......

P.S. - Score another one for the scangauge, noticed voltage all over the place yesterday in the truck. Turns out the shop I let work on it thought a finger tight positive battery cable was sufficient
