RallyCross?

Postby Dave-ROR » Fri Mar 30, 2007 9:22 pm

Anyone know of any fairly local clubs that RallyCross?

I would suggest that we do such an event, but most people probably don't have a vehicle that they would subject to such abuse, thankfully my SE-R fits the mold for me. :)

If enough people here are intested, I can try to find a place that would allow us to run such an event, but there's not much open land around here :(

The only place I've found so far is rallyrebels/sediv scca but their florida site is Homestead, pretty good drive...

I'm in! I asked and there should be no reason fast cannot sanction a rallycross, it is highly reccomended that the club purchase a "rallybeater" and rent it out to those tho are afraid to take their precious babies in the dirt. I've been in performance rally/rallycross for years and truly there is no experence like it. also I have *NEVER* seen a car break at a rallycross event. since most of the soil in florida is sant the biggest fear would be having to move the course when ruts develop. so the low cars don't get high centered. other then that it's a fun way to learn car control. almost as much fun as watching a group of spec miata's throw down on a froen lake in Maine but that is a story for another time.

I say GO! bring the site, I have the logistics from doing these events before, timing is a joke since it's culumitive stopwatches are fine' then it's just a matter of assembling the roundtable and pitching the idea. I CAN tell you the answer's I've gotten from people that don't understand it. "our people like to autocross" "nobody will come" "nobody wants to get their car dirty" it's the same story whenever you start somthing "new" in any car club. the motovated must out number the crumeodgeon and the lazy. if you can make that happen it'll be there. Philly region SCCA I batteled this for 4 years finally we got a provisional event. (we were told just don't loose money) there were so many cars turned out (some as far as 1000 miles) like my original winter series (aka snowcross) it became a regular thing.

CFR does have an excelent rallycross program, I just never know when or where the events are...

Anyone else interested?

Would like to know there's at least a chance of success before I try to figure out a valid location in the area.. :)

I would go if I had a suitable RWD or AWD car. But I don't, so I won't.

I'd probably do it in my beater Miata unless Jeff wants me to show him how to drive the V on dirt.

Good ol' Jeff, never say die!

I'm gonna pass on that one. We've got a week of One Lap to focus on, my friend.
