New Website and Forum

Postby Loren » Sun Apr 17, 2011 1:19 am

Obviously, you've found the forum.

The new website is not fully ready for primetime, but feel free to poke around on it here:
http://drivefast.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Lots of new features, and a lot better usability.

Somebody upload some recent event photos. Be sure to put the event date in the description. That will help me start establishing some event galleries.

Tired of microscopic user avatars? Too lazy to properly resize one? Fear not!

I just modded the avatar upload to handle files up to 1mb (that's a hard limit, sorry, can't go past that) and it will resize the photo to the appropriate size. So, everybody go re-upload your avatars. You, too, can help beautify the FAST forum!

While you're in there, don't forget to add your real name and car info. First name is required. Last name... if you really don't want to include it, that's fine, just fill it in with "--" or use an initial and a period. And try not to get too cute with the autox car field, we just want to know what we'll see you driving!

Is there a re-direct from the old home page in the works? There is only an error message now.

I put a redirect out there a couple days ago, but it's only going to catch hits to the domain name (not a specific page). I'll see if I can improve upon that.

Okay, took all pages of the old site offline and took control of the errors that should result from trying to access any of those pages. Anything you throw at the old domain now should kick up the redirect page.

Thanks for pointing out that issue!

Okay, I went through the website content today and fixed all of the links. Everything should be tight now, lemme know if it's not.

Installed some website monitoring yesterday (big brother is watching)... y'all need to quit using crappy Microsoft IE! The website looks way better in Chrome or FireFox. I'm trying to get IE to look and work as good as possible, but there are some things it just can't do or doesn't do as well as other browsers. The 60% of you who are viewing the site in IE are missing out!

Wow, you aren't kidding. I do use IE and checked it out on Firefox.... MUCH better!

My kid had told me that the ONLY reason IE was still around was so people could download Firefox! (He loves to pick on his Old Dad....)

I've been wondering for a while now why I haven't been getting topic reply and PM email notifications, but hadn't gotten around to trying to find the problem yet. Just fixed an unrelated bug in the auto-backup process that seems to have opened the floodgates! I'm getting all the notifications that I haven't been getting over the past week. Ugh.

My apologies if anyone else is getting the same flood of unwanted notifications. All I can say is that it will stop as soon as it's caught up!

FYI, I'm about to change the email address that forum notifications come from, too.
