As long as there isn't standing water, being at the wearbars is actually good for autocross. I'd be more concerned about the age of the tires and how hard the rubber is. If they were worn RAPIDLY down to the wearbars and aren't old, they could be great autox tires for a little while. But, if they've been on somebody's car for 20,000 street miles over the past 3 years... they're gonna suck.
