Good -- glad you enjoyed yourself. It's even more fun when it's not 1000 degrees out.
jTim_M wrote:sand...a la Lakeland...nooo! Another possibility was that A class went later in the day than typical...allowing the proper line to be easily identified rather than the Corvette going where it 'felt' fast.
Not quite that bad. And remember there's lots of rubber debris generated from weekday training. We don't think SPC sweeps the pad regularly -- just relies on periodic rain to wash it clean.
Loren wrote:Since we're not doing an event in August... anybody up for crashing the SCCA event at Brooksville on the 8th?
I plan to try -- I normally go to the CFR-W events, but haven't been home for the last several.

I just wanted to say thanks again for a great event!

Loren, thanks for braving a ride along with me and for the pointers. I think I did a little better on my fifth run with my entries and exits and maintaining speed...
Mark and Eric thanks for the ride alongs, they were fun and educational! I'm tempted to change my injectors just so I'm no longer in G and hopefully not in the first run group!

Oh and speaking of my fifth run... I keep trying to edit it to cut out the excess garbage at the end, but the editor I found make it look like garbage on youtube. I'm setting it to save as 720p, which was the original resolution and the file is a 3gp format originally. Any suggestions?
***Nevermind now it's displaying a 720p viewing option... I guess I need to call verizon and yell at them that my Fios download speeds are garbage, never had an issue before... ****

Great course. Thanks for the vids Scott.

Imagine that heat for the entire meeting in August. Those that voted stick with tradition, may want to reconsider. Just my opinion. Thread highjack over.

There's no set order to when the different classes run. In fact, I made an effort to put G up front this time because they'd been running later in several previous events. In the rest of the world, everyone wants to run later because the day warms up a bit and the course gets faster as the line's laid down. In Florida, everyone wants to run earlier because the day warms up and the chance of being caught in a thunderstorm increases! The biggest determinant in when a class runs is how it fits with others to make a run group. G and E2 tend to be the largest, and G is often large enough (like this time) to form a group by itself.

The group of us on MacDill have one, but the provost marshal says we have to keep the speed down...dang pedestrians.... :)

Oh i know... I'm just being a big baby about it. My first event i was in the third or fourth run group at spc and I was watching the clouds willing it not to rain... I just need to man up and jump in cars that are 5 or 6 ahead of me in grid. Someone has to go first! Yellow_Colorz_PDT_08

Scott: Thanks for the videos! We always look slow from outside the car...unless you are sideways (and out of control!)

Charles: All year and you have me by a point...seems like A class wasn't the only close competition-fun time!

Parking garage: hey that is where I learned to drive (as a valet :-) -don't ever valet your car is the lesson here!) I think with enough horsepower (ie rank) the parking garage could happen...just tag it as specialized pursuit driver training. Didn't they shoot a movie in a garage once ("The Driver"?)

Great course! That's the kind of design I like.
Congrats to Eric for sneaking past me on his last run.

I desperately wanted a ride in the F-150 Lightning.
If I knew he was in the Novice class I would have offered an "instructional" ride. (Or tried to make him believe that instructional rides were required for novices. :)
When we set up the PCA courses we often have to test the course with my F-150, because that's all we have at the site.
So my F-150 has pretty much gone through a set of tires testing out courses.
To be able to run the course in the Lightning would have been a hoot.
(And it's always fun to best a few sports cars while driving a 4,500 lb tow vehicle. :)

Another great event. Thanks everybody!

Here is a special shout out to Chris. It's been great competing with you. It's been nip and tuck all year. I really thought you were going to take me out at the last event of the season. I finally remembered that I can slow down to reduce understeer  My car just wasn't turning in like it usually does on Saturday.

My car is long past needing something (anything) done to it. Hopefully my wife will approve the nickels it takes to acquire and install shocks, springs, alignment and tires. And then it's time for a switch in class to E1, and competing with Kenny, Mark, Ron and Carl, among others.

Additionally, my nephew, Austin, was very excited about the event. He talked about it with anyone who would listen over the remainder of the weekend. He recently turned 16, and has very limited exposure to driving a car with manual transmission, so I think he did pretty well. The course was confusing at first blush, and I'm pretty impressed that all of the novices did such a good job of staying on it. Heck, I'm impressed that I found it. :D

Thanks Mark. I finally changed my stinking line...and nailed it. Plus us corvette owners love to knock off Porsches. You going to be competing in B class next season? If so, I'll make sure to stay on sticky tires. I really want to switch to the Nitto 555R IIs like Tim's burning up. Gotta agree with the Lightning as well, but I'd want to be behind the wheel. I always wanted to setup a Chevy 454SS for autocross/road racing.

Thanks for the elbow in my side about Beating a Porsche. :)
I'll be going back to street tires after these "R"s are used up. I already bought the Bidgestones. (Used of course, I'm cheap.)

Rosko, I can't believe your Nephew is only 16.
He is pretty big. I assumed he was a buddy of yours because he looked 20 something.

Thanks for the shout out Chuck. I'll be in E2 next year due to my offset bushings. I just couldn't put together one solid run. The story of my auto-x life. I fix my line in one section to go faster and flub another section. Next year I'm going to have to focus more instead of goofing off so much in between runs. I'll still be looking at the overall results even though we aren't in the same class. However, with the new springs and shocks you'll be getting, I'll probably have no chance of beating you. HMMMMMM.........maybe a few mods of my own to truly justify my E2 status are in order. Especially if Mr. Frank joins in on the fun.

Eric; you’re killing me. My Impala vs your Vette is like bringing a knife to a gun fight; well more like a SPORK and a plastic one at that. Thank god you didn’t start one race sooner. The big problem is even if I designed a course to cater to my strengths they're your strengths too so I can’t win. LOL … But I bring The Impala for the show. People love to see the big car go fast. Next season I’ll bring the Infiniti G37S on race tires and see if I can’t give you a run for your money. ;)

Yeah, sorry about that. But I do LOVE seeing you swing/drift that big boy around the track. I'd still taken F class so two LT1 powered cars could get class championships (since you can't win more than one class). 8) Still looking at what class I'll be running in next season. I need to find tires I can safely drive to brooksville on so I may dump back to F class, but I'm currently looking at the Nitto 555R IIs that Tim runs on.
