If I'm deemed worthy of a competition-I would like to try.

I'm concerned that the Miata may not allow enough 'thrust' to cover all my mistakes...

Should be fun!

With the grip available (not much), it will feel like it has over 9,000 horsepower! You'll feel right at home!

No clutch....
Of course! They wouldn't be funny otherwise.

That changes everything...I'm in! And I'm still blaming my mistakes on the clutch....

It's a 1.6 with a slushbox...acceleration is governed by gravity (and yes, I do mean at SPC...).

If there is still an opening I would like to be considered.

This will just increase the chances for everyone else involved!

Sign me up!

No excuses. But let's just acknowledge that experienced Miata drivers have an advantage. I won't feel bad getting beat by any of them.

For some unrealistic and incomprehensible reason, which is obviously based upon zero rational thought (except for the additional opportunity to come in last) I have a desire to compete in this competition. Should I seek professional help with this problem?

According to Chuck, you have the advantage. Based on driving experience in an early automatic Miata, the finish should be Jeff first and you second!

If I'm eligible to register for this I'll definitely like to see how close or more likely how far away my times are. LOL

This is Ron Tomlin usually out there with a 1995 Polo Green Corvette. Might have it out for May 14th but I still have the transmission sitting on the bench of my shop. If I can get the rebuild finished and break it in I'll definitely be out if not I'll just be spectating or if I qualify have some runs in the miata.

Thanks,

Ron

Since FROC is now open to all comers and not just champions, should the name change to
FAST All-star Pursuit of Faultless Automotive Parity?

You'll need to register for the May autocross first, Ron. Once you've done that (in whatever car you can com up with), you're welcome to run the FROC.

EDIT: Scratch that, I see you ARE registered. (you made it sound like you weren't) You're in.

Fixed.

That's right. Experienced Miata drivers of any ilk, auto or manual will have an advantage. That doesn't mean I won't OWN them despite their advantage. This will just make my wallet full of cash all the sweeter!

Pow! That's right! I said it! Let the smacktalk begin!

Um, this doesn't break the rules about sportsmanship, right? Because I think we should delete that rule for this particular competition.

I can see Chuck's post-race interview now:

"I'd like to thank my skills for being so sharp, my reflexes for being so quick, my ego for being so large..."

Guys, nobody ever said there was an entry limit. I'm just leaving an open slot at the end of the list to show that the list isn't complete yet.

I think I've finalized my list of excuses as to why I sucked at driving a Miata.

--I couldn't help but drive like a girl!

--My panties kept getting bunched up.

--I was distracted by the rear end of the car in front of me.

--I couldn't concentrate after I found out Steve was wearing the same blouse as I was.

--Once aware of my new-found femininity, I was overwhelmed by my own fabulousness.

--I pulled my talent muscle.

All kidding aside, I am looking forward to this. I might actually learn something!
