Ha! I've heard unmuffled aircraft radials that are quieter.

Okay so I lied. I told you it's been 7 years since I looked at this thing under it's blue cover. Wish it was a 66 Mustang...damn.

It's a 3500 watt unit. 6.5HP. It is mostly high gloss black with a bright red 12 liter gas tank.

It is shiny ass new. Max noise level is 68dB. Nearing threshhold of 70 for prolonged exposure @ 20ft = busy restaurant.

Mods are Doug's open header. Carb venturi kit. Ram cold air induction. Could stand a wheel kit as weighs 54kg = 118.8lb?

I think it runs in M2 due to the mods? Also because it is "self exciting" we definately will have to keep it behind the screen.

It measures 670mmL x 480mmW x 500mm H. Isn't that 26"L x 19"W x 20"H?

So there you have it. If it's too loud, too shiny, too heavy or just too new just tell me and we'll forget it.

Doug

Looks like it's pretty well suited to the task, Doug. Do you want the old Craftsman unit in case you need it when the hurricane comes? Or are you just going to enjoy some free space in your garage?

I'll still have my trusty old Yamaha with low hours on it to power my frig and a couple fans. Five days after any real Hurricane with no power and I'm outta here anyhow visiting kids.

I'm sure a worthy person will fix up the old one and use it for emergencies or give it to someone in need or a camper?

Knowing us, we'll keep it around as a backup until we get tired of looking at it. :)

Thanks, Doug!

$30 was for a muffler. If we're not going to be using it, we don't need to buy the muffler.

Good thing I read this just now, was about ready to get on Amazon and order that muffler up. I can store the genny in my work room until we decide what to do with it. I can put it next to my 8500 watt Honda genny, that way it won't be lonely :snicker: .

Just received a new battery for my phone from Amazon, for some reason they sent me two of them but only charged me for one. Anyone need a HTC battery 35H00142-02M ?

Brian,

The "muffler" is a "talisman" that will ward off all evil from the unproven "new" 7 year old generator.

Go for it. I'll give you the $30 if you provide "free" labor - just because!! $3 in 1970 = $30 in 2012. I believe in talismen.

Brian is a talisman.

Two videos so hit arrow to right.

Started out with just a 100watt bulb. Added a 1.25HP vacuum (max rating) running about .5HP sucking air thru narrow hose.

So 475watts constant with about a liter of gas which didn't quite fill the reserve sloped area of the tank and didn't register on the gas gage. Ran 1.5 hrs. I thought the vacuum was as loud as the generator.

So I figure it will run 18 hours on 12 liters if pulling about 500watts?

It started right up without using the choke at all in this warm weather.

Dudless
