Well-oiled machine this FAST organization is!

First car off at 1030 was it?...Lunch, workers, weather-perfect.

Course was one of the most fun I've done at Brooksville and I'm not typically a fan of the runway layouts.

It was great to be back in FL amongst friends.

Now it will take a while to figure out all this AWD techniques...I know if I add the 'fart' can exhaust it ought to cut my times by 2 seconds...

Thanks for all the hard work.

Found this on course during the second run group. Best guess is Kevin's #19 Miata but not sure.

With no reference to scale, I can't identify that part.

My last run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84TzXsOX ... e=youtu.be

Corded the right front tire, but the tires did have a ton of runs on them. I decided to check my rear brakes and found them WAY out of adjustment, after some tweaking it is braking much better and even, it seems fronts were carrying more than their share of the load. Amazing how when things change gradually, it can be easily missed (at least by me). Looking forward to the next event!

Jan 5th New Years Event

Postby rojeho » Sun Jan 06, 2013 3:35 pm

What, you don't tear down and rebuild after every event?

Went to support a friend at the WKA kart week last week. It's a lot easier to nut-n-bolt a kart than a street car

...Resisting the temptation to spend half a day photographing it next to all sorts of items to give a sense of scale

Center hole is about 0.5 inch. Total diameter about 1.25 inch. Looks like a sway bar end link bushing to me.

And John's car proved capable of a 47.9 with its new springs. You guys are in trouble as soon as John figures out how to drive it! :thumbwink:

Ah, but burying your head in the sand doesn't make you any faster, Chris! It's good to know how much you're leaving on the table... and maybe get some hints on how to find it.

In this case, apples-to-apples, John's best raw time was 50.7 and I ran a 49.2 with the same setup. That setup was very loose. I didn't get faster until I started tweaking the setup, and then I got faster still by experimenting with silly things like downshifting from 3rd to 2nd before the last slalom to get better acceleration through the finish.

When we get the setup right (John added more rear camber to the car today), it will be easier to drive and John will be confident and not frustrated... and will be a lot closer to my times than 1.5 seconds.

(but 47.9 + 1.5 = 49.4, which would have taken his class by .2 seconds yesterday!)

What I do:
1. Fix things that break.
2. Put gas in tank.
3. Drive.
4. Repeat.
