(looking at shots of my car) there's no way a normal car has that much body roll, sweat jesus lol. maybe I should get shocks before the end of the season.

Had a bit of time to do some due diligence on my historical notes. Jason did indeed run several events with what is now Ron's car in season 1. Also found that Elliot Harvey and his Datsun ran 1 event with FAST that 1st season.

Looks like the real reason I was understeering out of everyone's favorite box had a little to do with running out of front travel. Eventually, I'll have to upgrade my coilovers so I can get better springrates, but in the mean time the car is feeling really dialed where it's at. The bumpstops made the transition fairly smooth, so they're doing their job, I guess.

Are your coilovers height adjustable? If you're running out of travel you could try increasing the ride height first.Cloud498 wrote:Looks like the real reason I was understeering out of everyone's favorite box had a little to do with running out of front travel. The "Push Harder, Suck Less" philosophy explained:
Push Harder - Drive as close to the limit of your tires as possible.
Suck Less - Drive something resembling a proper racing line.

The car is at its highest ride height yet. That element is the only time I've ever run out of front travel and it wasn't really a problem, so I'm not too worried about upgrading anytime soon or needing to adjust anything. Thanks to heeding Loren's advice and the NB top hats I bought from Steve, I don't hit the rear bump stops anymore, which was a much bigger deal. My current setup has 7k front/6k rear springs and the general consensus I've seen is that 9k/6k is optimal for autox miatas. I looked into upgrading the front springs, but the highest springrate Tein recommends with that valving is 8k and I'd rather upgrade to a set with a separate height adjustment eventually anyways.Loren wrote: Wed Oct 25, 2017 11:49 amjaball77 wrote:Are your coilovers height adjustable? Like I said, the car feels really dialed right now, and the only mod that would make it substantially faster is a driver mod.

Late to post on this thread; just got back from a week on the Blue Ridge Parkway and north Georgia (in our cruiser car, not the Subie). Just wanted to say we really enjoyed the longer course, which also included different types of challenges.
