End o' Year Tech Session - Dec 30
My Miata doesn't clunk anymore! And Loren's MG is very clean for being 20 years older than my rust bucket!

FAST Monday - March 11 - Craft Street
I'm just leaving work and it'll probably take like 5 minutes longer to get to Craft Street that it would to go home. I'm in for 6:30ish

I didn't even know you had a MS on your car, Joe. You're stealthy.
I knew about the MS, but I didn't realize he was running a Mazdaspeed intake cam. He probably told me about it and it still slipped under my radar. That silver paint may have some of that stealth fighter paint mixed in with it ...

As promised, I'm linking my latest tune file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kxrn1ejmjx3tebn/Latest%20TuneVE2.msq?dl=0
And so that anybody can look at my current tables without having to boot up TunerStudio, a screenshot of my Fuel, Ignition, and AFR tables (keeping in mind that they're scaled for ...

Last event, Steve asked me about sharing my tune. I intend to post the current iteration tonight (I switched from open loop to closed loop idle over the weekend), but wanted to go ahead and start the thread.
Among other things, it would be nice to have a place for anyone working through tuning ...

I'm gonna go ahead and concur with Les on course design. Walking it, it felt like it wouldn't be anything special; just slaloms. But it was fantastic to drive. Challenging, but enough space to carry speed in a car that has trouble building it up.
As quite a few people noticed, I wasn't in the car ...

I may make it out tonight. I finished moving to New Tampa last night, so Oldsmar is only 45 minutes away rather than 2 and a half hours

Nov 18th. Does it get any better?
Great event yesterday! Probably my favorite course ever. Happy with my fastest run, but I definitely left a bunch of time out there (mostly in the slow sections, but probably in the high speed crossover as well). I'd love to see this course at a classic to have a better chance to get more out of it.

Are your coilovers height adjustable? If you're running out of travel you could try increasing the ride height first.
 Ask him how many times I've suggested that.
The car is at its highest ride height yet. That element is the only time I've ever run out of front travel and it wasn't ...

Looks like the real reason I was understeering out of everyone's favorite box had a little to do with running out of front travel. Eventually, I'll have to upgrade my coilovers so I can get better springrates, but in the mean time the car is feeling really dialed where it's at. The bumpstops made ...

Fantastic event as always. The latest tweak I made to my car is letting me drive how I want to, so now I can actively work on running faster instead of worrying about completely blowing a run because of a small mistake.
BUT... I completely overlooked Tyler Williams. He had quietly run a 41.3 in ...

Fantastic day at the horse track. Could've done better in my car, but I also finally got to drive Phillip Russell's AP2 s2000 and got a solid run in that. I'll have video for my car soon, and hopefully I can get Phillip's video of my runs in his car soon.

edited my video and uploaded it to youtube
https://youtu.be/fQ1qanhYjLo
Had a near spin on my last run, and I'm still not sure if it was the transition over the crest that did it or if I hit the right rear bumpstop.

Tyler Williams is a steely eyed auto-crosser, no one give him any more hints. Well Done!
I don't earn that title until I can win in Brooksville. I owe my success today to you, Loren, and Steve for all of the guidance y'all have given me; my car had way more grip with that extra 1/4 inch of height ...

2" is probably way too small for intake tubing on a Miata if you don't intend to create a restriction. Look at your stock intake tube. Don't go any smaller than that.
Stock snorkel is about 2" for an NA. I'm directly copying a diy from mazdaroadster.net http://mazdaroadster.net/showthread.php ...

Function over Form. Be fast! Let the losers be pretty.
Well yeah, but like Joe said, 4.5" pinch weld is an ideal height. It'll let me get more camber, too, if I need it. The new height should be better in the mean time.
I'm also gonna try to copy steve's diy cowl induction if I've got time ...

Working on my suspension adjustments for tomorrow, and it looks like Loren's bumpstop theory is correct. My bumpstops probably don't have enough clearance; the fronts have about an inch of travel when preloaded, and I haven't looked at them yet, but I bet the rears have the same or less. The plan ...

Too much bar tends to react "instantly". When you turn in, the bar reacts NOW, and your problem shows right then. What I'm talking about (and what I'm seeing in the video) is more of a problem WAY after turn-in... like middle-of-the-turn-around...
Just watched my video again, and I think the ...
